You can use the old method: crunches and push-ups or a newer method instead of push-ups on the floor use the wall and then bend down bring yourself up using your knees and stomach muscles, or you can do the oldest exercise in the world and that is instead of mopping the floor with a mop get on your knees and use a rag.

A lot of people will tell you to do a lot of sit ups, but that's not always the case. In the Army, they make us do thousands of thousands, but you rarely get results that way. I would say from experience do a lot of running, maybe 3 to 4 times a week, start eating salads in yur diet, instead of doing a lot of sit ups, do variations. For example: do 50 regular sit ups, then 40 crunches, then 30 reverse crunches ( where your upper body is stationary and your legs do the crunching), 20 side crunches (10 each side) and then 10 regular sit ups again. If you go to the gym, even better. Then you can start cycling, and do weighted crunches with a medicine ball, etc.

Another thing that really helps is doing leg lifts. Just lay flat on your back and lift up your legs, usually around 6-8 inches off the ground. While you are doing this you can move your legs around( I like where you spread them and then bring them back together). They are hard if you haven't done much conditioning before but they really help.
