It depends on how long you are willing to be with her before she has the baby.

I know when I was pregnant with mine, my doctor had given me a due date of April 5, my mom told me from the date that I had given her for my last missed period, that I would have my little one between March 24th & March 29th. She was right, I had my little one on March 26th.

buy an open ticket. With this you can determine the period of travel. ie, from October 2006 to October 2007. Most open tickets can be extented to the maximum length of one year. The only problem with this kind of ticket is that there are usally some restrictions such as you have to notify the airline 7days prior to departure etc, and if you want to move the date after you have booked it then there is usually a surcharge which can be expensive.

Overall open tickets are more expensive than normal tickets because the airline has to hold a seat for you on a maybe that you will use it. However if your not excatly sure when you want to go because of the circumstances that you are in then I think an open ticket is the best. However perhaps the best thing to do is talk to some travel agents.

You can't really pinpoint that unless it's going to be a scheduled delivery...like a planned c-section. All you can do is plan for a week or two of the due date.

You have to know the date in order to purchase the ticket. Just estimate the earliest and latest you will have to and can be there and use those dates.
