Being open or closed minded is inherant to the individual. I believe the attribute is something that is fostered from birth, into childhood, further supported through the teenage years, and the ultimate resposibility of the adult. So. If you are either an Atheist or a Christian, I must ask this.
What was the last book you read that was outside your sphere of knowledge and understanding?
Christians - How about "In Search of Schrodinger's Cat?"
Athiests - Anything by Joseph Campbell.

If you define open-mindedness as the ability to accept that there might be more than one answer to a particular question, then I would say some of each. Some Christians- but not all- admit that there are things that they don't know. Some atheists- but not all- will also admit that there are some questions they can't answer. As an identifiable group, agnostics are more open-minded than either of the two you mention.
I don't belong to any of those groups, but I think I'm pretty open minded. I could be wrong, though.

Sweeping generalisations very quite work, it would all depend upon which Atheists and which Christians you are speaking of here. In the Germany of the 1930's the largest opposition to the facist regime came from the German Lutheran churches while the greater majority of Christians spoke out in favour of the Nazis' actions against 'sub-human groups.' A better question would be: who is more open minded, Josef Stalin (Atheist) or Soren Kierkegaard (Christian)?

you cannot stereotype either but some are so open minded their brains are falling out and others are so closed they gain no new knowledge- I have seen both atheists and christians fall into this. you do however have to be very discerning aobut what oyu are opening your mind to. I would use the term "open minded" very carefully!
But more importantly, open minded or not, finger pointing, 3rd grade playground name calling and being plain rude is just unintelligent and immature- so I would have a lot less problem with a closed minded person than a childish name caller.

Atheism is a religion. Atheism cannot answer the question of the meaning of death.
Atheism has no consistent definition for evil, because then they would have to define what good is, and they have no standard to go by.
Atheism is about nothingness, and life has little or no meaning. Human beings are reduced to the product of random chance evolution.
Christianity is richer in philosophy, elevates human beings to divine son/daughtership, and death has a purpose.
Most atheists have issues with authority in general, and are arrogant and narrow minded.
Sola scripturist Christians are narrow minded as well, l but not all Christians adhere to that man-made unhistorical unbiblical unworkable doctrine.

Atheists are more open minded they live their own lives and come to conclusions about God based on their own experiences...plus even though they might personally not believe in God they do not put down those who do...as for the christians....your either with them or against them there is no gray area in their minds.

Atheists. The majority of atheists will say gods may exist, Christians insist that a single god does exist and it's the one that's talked about in the Bible.

Atheists, of course. Christians automatically assume that any belief or idea that runs even slightly contrary to their religious dogma is wrong at best, evil at worst. Atheists don't look at the world like that. If there's evidence for a claim, it is very likely to be accepted. If there isn't, it is likely to be dismissed.

I am going to go with Christians are more open minded. We opened our minds and our eyes and our heart to God. I will listen to anyone that talks about their beliefs or non beliefs.
