She's a 3 yr. old chihuahua, and adopted/rescued. She is very sweet and wonderful otherwise!

We've given her her own chew toys, but she is not interested in them.

She jumps up on the chairs and sofa to get things off of the tables!

Be the first to chew on everything. Chihuahuas are pretty resilient and defiant so what you really should be doing is chastising her for going potty outside and being so quiet. So mark your territory and bark really loud frequently. Or you could always staple your furniture to the ceiling. If she can't reach it, she can't chew on it.

If she chews on stuff when you're not home, crate training is a wonderful blessing. Even an older dog can learn, although it may be a bit harder.
As others have said, keep things picked up. When you are home and she chews on something, firmly say 'no' and remove the object (or remove her from the object) and give her an appropriate toy with a great deal of praise. Invest in a bunch of different stuff. They have all kinds of neat toys/chewies for toy dogs now--rawhide, rope toys, Kong toys, Nylabones, Greenies, etc. Some toys/chews should be used only under supervision and the package will say so (a piece could come off and be swallowed). Others are safer to use when you're not home, like Kongs, especially since she's a small dog.
If she chews on large objects like furniture, I'm a big fan of a product called Triple Bitter (there are others, but this one has worked for me). It is really nasty stuff that you spray wherever the dog is chewing (works to keep cats away from sofas, plants, etc. too). Just don't inhale the fumes--or wipe on with a cotton ball instead of spraying. Test a hidden spot first to make sure it won't stain fabric.
Good luck!
p.s. I had a GSD who chewed on stuff till she was about three. Drove us nuts but she finally quit.

most dogs go threw a adjustment point trying to get used to there new surrounding's,she probably misses her old family. try getting her chew toys of her own,and you might want to talk to the vet about putting the Little sweet heart on doggy downers while you're not at home they will keep her calm. Also you might try putting her in a kennel cab with a blanket and some chew toys water and food. dogs like the feeling of being n a secure place of there own.Try it of course while you re there and leave the door open so she can see she can come in and out.after awhile you and your new dog will get along great.good luck buy the little cutie some rewards for not chewing to so she can associate what not to chew and what she can chew!

Well there are three options, 1. don't leave things laying about, 2. get some no Chew spray. (see sources for more info on that) or 3. firm disipline. This takes someone being at home with her 24/7 though.

First, she must have her own toys to chew on. Second, you must keep things picked up, especially things you don't want chewed on. If she starts to chew on something not for chewing, give her a firm NO....then give her one of her chew toys and tell her a sweet OK. When she chews on her own toys, pat her and tell her she is a "good girl", they love praise. It won't happen overnight, but in time if you keep repeating this, she will learn.....but please still keep things picked up....don't tempt her, she's just a little dog!

how long have u had her, is she new to u ? if so shes probably testing u to see what she can get away with. r u home with her all the time? she needs discipline. r u gone all day? shes bored, put things up and get her her own toys or get her a cage to b in while u r gone. have u always had her? if so , did u change something in her routine or maybe move, if so again shes probably acting up to protest whatever u have done . patience will eventually make things right again. good luck

Dogs have to chew, so please, give the little darlin some things of its own, (Like chew bones and a chew toy) to keep her busy.
Also, having rescued a couple of dogs myself, they tend to be more nervous than dogs that have never been mistreated so please give her some toys she can "woller" with.

My Bulldog is like that! only if i leave her alone, she misses me so she has to ruin something, or if i won't lt her fight whith another dog she will break something , so when i go out i put her were she can't ruin anything, She has a big squissy toy she beats the crap out of, if leave shoes or my purse around there ruined , so i don't leave them .... and i give her tons of hugs and kisses and she is ok...........

keeping things picked up would be the easy way to solve this problem. Otherwise it's a matter of training . Remember-don't set her up to fail.

Pick things up and put them where she can't get them. If she gets on tables, counters, furniture, etc. and you don't want her to, just put some tabasco sauce on a small piece of paper towel and put it where she normally jumps up. It won't hurt her, but she won't like it. And your whole house will smell like tex-mex...yum!
