Choose a good brand of food to give your puppy. Check the bad for proper feeding amounts. Dont leave food out for puppy, just water. if you leave food out it doesnt train your puppy to eat when he is feed. leave the food out for about 30 min or as long as he is standing there eating. Once he is not intrested anymore put the food away.

First choose a high quality dry puppy food, such as Science Diet large breed puppy, Iams large breed puppy, or Purina One large breed puppy.
You'll need to know how much the pup weighs. Many vets will let you come in and use their big scale for no charge--call around to see who will.
Then, look on the back of the bag and find the age of the pup and the weight, or closest to it, and it will tell how much food to feed the pup each day.
Divide that amount in half and feed half the food in the morning and half at night, or whatever works with your schedule. If the pup hasn't eaten all the food after 20 or 30 minutes, put it away till the next feeding.
Important: measure the food with an actual dry measuring cup (sometimes vets also give away measuring cups, they get them for free from food companies).
Good luck!

It depends what brand of food you're feeding it. It will say on the bag, or you can check looking it up on petsmart.com in the product information section. I think mine was eating around 5 or 6 cups a day at that age, just make sure you break it down into several small meals a day, as they can't eat that much in one go when they're small.

I worked as a puppy sitter/dogs walker in San Fran for years and worked with many youthful goldens. Now i like mature, nicely-experienced goldens yet lots of the more youthful ones were frankly very problematic. From what i ought to work out (and that i'm no professional on goldens....only my experience) is that it takes them years to relax down. The goldens I worked with were affectionate yet type of loopy and stupid. they'd leap on you and in case you tried to reveal them this changed into no longer suitable, it changed into as if they did not even "hear" you or comprehend the command. Their proprietors expressed an identical experience, so i understand it wasn't only me. perchance I experienced goldens with undesirable breeding or something....yet i changed into completely grew to change into off in words of the breed regularly...I hate to assert. If i changed into to ever get a golden, i'd undertake one over the age of 5 that has had some practise. in the different case, practice for extremely some paintings the first various years of existence. they choose extremely some human contact and obedience practise to advance sturdy manners. And locate a sturdy breeder.

Follow instructions on the puppy food package. They give weights, ages and what's right for small, medium, or large dogs (yours is a large breed, obviously).
