i have a focus and I had to get another key. To get it programmed I had to take it to the locksmith. it cost like 250. and I don't know of anywhere else to get that done other than a ford dealer. which would probably be just as much...

Surprised the locksmith was able to program it.. Most send them the dealer way.

As far as I know, the only way is using the dealer's computer used for diagnostics is the only computer that can communicate with the instrument cluster and access to program the key (the module that controls theft is in the instrument cluster in your vehicle)

So unless you know a Ford tech who sidelines... you are looking at usually 1/2 to hour labor charge at going rate....

Oh and BTW... Better make sure that key is good you bought... There are two that look alike, one that starts your mustang/F150s and one for the Focus... I can't remember the exact codes (it's stamped on the key) that are for what key however.... (It should have a S if my key for my truck is a clue (it's the same style and coded PATS key as a mustang)

Nope. And the bad part is you got that blank cut for nothing. You have to go to a dealership, and they will program and cut a key. You can't just program a regular key.

Sorry but you can program a third key effortlessly but programming a second takes a dealer or a locksmith
