I think the email address is liverpoolcollectives@ukpa.gsi.gov.uk but head towards the passport office website to check http://www.passport.gov.uk/.
Speak to the Indian embassy http://www.hcilondon.net/ to see if they require 6 months on your passport. If they do, apply before you go - you can apply for a new passport up to 9 months before your old expires, otherwise wait until after your trip.

It's a scam. And very, very few people fall for it. But enough gullible people do -- it only takes one out of a million -- that the scammers keep it up.
