I awakened around June of 2003 as a soldier in Middle East, and began asking very hard questions. in Dec 2003 after Saddam was found and we then did not go home but began further occupying and destroying humanity, I began to ask my peers who told me that if I continued challengin authority and asking such questions I would be suspect and lose clearances
so I had to go...
peace begins with us individually

Most true Christians are good people. They are contributors to society, help others & their community, most give at least 10% of their $ to the local church (which goes back into the community), dont kill people, dont do drugs, sont harm others or cause turmoil. Prayer has been shown to be an effeicient type of meditation and loving your neighbor incourgages healthy relations. SO even if their isn't a God, and all this is in VAIN. How is that believing in an imaginary spirit bad or counter productive. I say it just makes us better people and have better lives.
Someday bring peace? Living for Jesus, helping and serving others, allowing the bible to be my handbook on life and using prayer as a daily tool has brought PEACE and happiness I never knew before. SO he brings peace now.

You are partially correct....and I bet you love that. It is true that only we can bring about peace. There is a very wonderful spiritual song that says: Let there be peace on earth, and let it begin with me. That is so true. So what are you doing to contribute to the peacefulness of our world? Putting down (even subtley) other human being's beliefs is counterproductive to peace. And it is up to each and every one of us to put forth the effort to bring about peace, starting in our own little corner of the world...so the responsibility is mine, and it is yours.
The part that you are incorrect about is the imaginary spirit. God (or whatever you may wish to name the Source) is absolutely real, and lives in each and every one of us. You have the Source in you too. You only need to look inside to find it.
I am not Christian, but I do believe that there is definitely more to this world and beyond than meets the eye.

I agree with you. The gods have left it up to mankind to bring peace to the world--they created this world for us, and it is for us to take matters into our own hands. Spirits may help us, but relying on any spiritual being to do something for the world is foolish.

Well, let's think about that now, shall we...? Can you name a period in history wherein world peace EVER existed...? And, how long has man been here...? Moreover, I disagree with you that "wishing and hoping" is counterproductive... Perhaps if it was accompanied by more PRAYER, there would be MORE peace...
Welcome to the world of the knowledge of Good and Evil... As long as those two things co-exist, there can NEVER be worldwide peace... However, some of us anticipate the next world... Hope to see you there...

That's fine with me, whatever you believe. I just know it feels incredible to have a Saviour, and who wouldn't want to live forever?
You're right, though, about mankind. We should be making peace, but we've messed up... BIG TIME. We were actually given charge of the earth, as pangel said, but who has the omni-wisdom to take charge of the whole earth?
All the wrongs in the world will be righted one day, you will see that happen. But who else could do it but someone omnipotent and omnipowerful; a saviour of the world perhaps?
I'm not going to give you verses and stuff, like some may try to do --- but I will pray.
I wish you a great life, H.L.R.

I was a big fan of the TV series "Farscape", just because it was so thoroughly campy. In the final episode, the hero points out:
"Weapons don't make peace. Treaties don't make peace. PEOPLE make peace."
He didn't add: But only when they're too afraid to go on making war....

Not quite, but there will be help....
ISAYAH 2:2-6
2. It will come to pass in the last days, that the mountain; promotion, of The House of Yahweh will be established in the chief of the nations, and will be raised above all congregations; and all nations will eventually flow to it.
3. And many people will go and say; Come, and let us go up to the mountain of Yahweh, to the House of the Father of Yaaqob, and He will teach us of His ways, and we will walk in His paths. For the Law will depart from Zion, and the word of Yahweh will depart from Yerusalem.
4. He will judge among the nations, and will rebuke many people; they will beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning-hooks; nation will not lift up sword against nation, neither will they learn war anymore

Don't hold your breath. The Christian sects pretty much thrashed this out during the Thirty Years War, but that's only a subset of the religious types.
