You don't need a credit card to obtain your credit report. You are allow to get one from each of the three credit bureaus per year free of charge. Only if you request for credit score which will cost anywhere between $5-15.

Although everyone here is right that you can obtain a free credit report from each of the three Credit Bureaus once a year - those reports DO NOT show your FICO (credit) scores.

If you want to see your credit scores - you have to pay each company to see your score.

Otherwise, they just send you a report with all your life's history of debt, with whom it was/is and how it's rated by the industry...

You cannot get a credit report for free unless you were denied credit, then you can get a free one. If you want a credit report it will cost you. Go to experian and sign on to get your report. Check out the many sites for a credit report but you will have to pay either way.
