your body has to get rid of what it doesn't use. When you eat, your body doesn't use all the nutrients, so they have to go somewhere. I know bathrooms can be gross, but if you are really that grossed out, carry cleaner with you or something. It is not good to hold it. A few side effects- you can tear your rectum if the stool is too hard or too big. Rectal bleeding, constipation, colon problems, your appendix can suffer (appendicitis is not fun) and toxicity to your body. Try getting some of those toilet seat covers if that helps too. Think about it this way- if you didn't eat for 4 days you wouldn't be doing very good right? It is the same way with having a bowel movement. Your body needs it.

Elimination is the way toxins, waste products are removed from the body. When you do not use the bathroom regularly, you are basically setting up a situation in your body where toxins and wastes are building up, hardening and will eventually make it very difficult for you to go to the bathroom. It will eventually affect your complexion, your digestion, it can lead to the development of hemorrhoids, anal tears, bloating and swelling in the lower extremities. So - it is very important for you to go in a timely manner.
Now - I understand about bathroom shyness - when I went to camp in the summer - I would not go the whole week - and then I would be sick a week when I got home. I would not go at school, work, in a public bathroom, etc. It eventually caused me to have long term problems - so I had to learn to overcome this.
You can too - just try to think regular - like in the morning before you leave home - or in the evening about you come home. Eventually your body will work with you. Good luck!
