What's in food coloring?

Is there anything in food coloring that would kill animals, like fish, or more specifically, brine shrimp?

There are dyes in food colorings; and yes, in mass quantities, it would kill; some red dyes have also been found to cause some cancers; I don't get the brine shrimp question, though....

i wuld think something to make something else have color and if im rong buy a box of food coloring and be wise and read the ingredients.
