I smoked for 23 years and just quit this February. I loved smoking. I have a 5 year old son though, with no one to take care of him if anything happend to me so I decided to give it up. I went to my doctor and got on Wellbutrin (30 days) and Xanax (7days) and replaced my smokes with jolly ranchers and bubble gum. I also decided to start eating better and have dropped about 25 pounds. This was my first time to ever try and quit and I smoked a pack and a half a day for years and I was truly suprised at how easy it was. The first couple of days I had a pretty bad headache and was kind of mean to my family, but after that it got much better. I don't even crave them anymore, and I noticed a huge difference in my breathing after only 2 weeks of quitting. I actually cut my whole yard without running out of air, which is a great feeling.

I'm an off 'n on-er. I don't really like smoking and I know I can always quite. For the last two years, whenever I smoked, I would end up smoking for six weeks until my throat got sore.
I can go two or three months without a cigarette and last time I smoked, it was only a pack.
This is an interesting way of quitting, yes?

I used to smoke, but one day I was standing outside in the freezing rain in the alley behind our office next to the dumpster (the designated smoking spot) and it finally hit me: I had been reduced to standing outdoors in weather where no rational person would be for the privilege of killing myself. I felt like a pariah. Add to that the cost of a package of cigarettes and bingo, I knew it was time for me to quit. It was rough at first but four years later I have no regrets. Smoking has no redeeming qualities, and it is now so socially unacceptable, anyone who continues on is surely doing it from addiction and not pleasure.

No,I never smoked. I guess all the yellow-streaked walls, cigarette ashes in the food, the sound of a lung being coughed up in the morning and stinky hair when I was a kid, turned me off. My parents and grandfather all smoked although my grandfather's choice of poison was a pipe. My mom and dad died of lung cancer.

I personally do not smoke but am around people who do smoke frequently. I do not care for the smell of it either but to each their own.

Not only do I not smoke but I'm tired smokers being around everywhere I go. There's no escaping them. They not only don't care that it's not healthy for them, they don't care that it's just as much or more unhealthy for others, especially babies and children.
