Ortiz - W 61 (KO's 30) TF 70 - W pct 87% - KO pct 43% - wins over J.Brown (my cousin), I.Laguna{3], F. Eldore[2] and S. Ramos{2} - KO'ed by K. Buchanan - #60 ranked fighter
Camacho - W 78 (KO's 37) TF 85 - W pct 92% - KO pct 44% - wins over Rosario, Leonard, Boza-Edwards, Mancini and Duran - KO'ed by C. Walsh (a nobody when he was 40 yrs old)
Won titles at 126, 130 and 135
People usually think that Camacho was an overrated big mouth clown but when you look at some of his opponents (Rosario, Chavez, Trinidad, Duran, Leonard and DeLaHoya) you know that he had a good chin/heart
Two good boxers can sometime make for a very boring fight. Both have wins over world class fighters.The only advantage that Hector has over Carlos is speed. He uses it well enough to get a split 15 rd decision.
P. S. Brent you mentioned to me a while back to keep politics out of boxing. Of course there is not such animal.
Was politics in boxing when white fighters wouldn't fight black fighters?
Was politics in boxing for both Louis and Schmeling bouts?
Was politics in boxing when some fighters refused to fight those from South Africa?
Was politics in boxing when they stripped Ali of his title without due process?

Wow what a fight this would be! Ortiz was a very good boxer/puncher that seemed almost methodical in taking apart an opponenet. However, he would have difficulty with the fast and clever Camacho. This would be a fairly even fight but the faster hands of Camacho would prevail in this fight and Camacho would win a close decision.

OH......You changed it when I got in here "in their prime". No biggie, in his prime, Camacho hardly ever went beyond six(6) rounds, he usually knocked the guy out. Ortiz was a "blue collar" kind of guy, many times going the distance in his fights , based on that......I go with ORTIZ.....in twelve(12)...LATER....
