I heard recently that it's caused by fungus. Can it be cured systemically the same way fungus toenails are cured with Lamisil?

I was hoping someone out there knows of a home remedy that works.

Thanks!

I've tried about every tube of stuff available OTC at the drug stores, none of them are worth a darn.

here is what I found hope it helps

A CURE FOR CRACKED HEELS
A common problem in the winter months is cracked heels. Here are a few ways to combat the problem.
. Soak your heels in lukewarm water and use a pumice-stone to scrub off dead skin to smooth the heels or use a foot scrub after soaking the feet in lukewarm water. Apply a deep moisturizing lotion or Vaseline and put on the socks to cover it for sometime. This method will protect the feet from excessive dryness.
. You could also heat up some Coconut oil, add some wax into it and after cooling apply it onto your heels.
. Another solution is to melt paraffin wax and mix it well with little mustard oil. Apply on the affected area of your heels. Wash it off in the morning. Do this for 10 or 15 days and see the difference.

also here are tips for keeping your feet healthy everyday

Feet maintenance is a part and parcel of your beauty treatment. Here are a few tips on how to make your feet look as fresh as possible.
. To keep your feet smelling good and looking fresh dust some deodorizing talcum powder onto your feet every morning.
. You need to exercise your feet. Walking is a good form of exercise for the feet.
. When you get back from a long day, soak your feet alternatively in hot and cold water. Add some salt to this water.
. If your feet are itching, then apply some lemon juice and vinegar.
. Try massaging some onion juice between the toes. This will relieve itching and athlete's foot.
. When shopping for shoes, comfort is the operative word. Ill-fitting shoes which are too tight have really high heels and pointed toes are largely responsible for the 'ill-health' of your feet. Your shoes must support the arch of your foot and also provide enough room to accommodate your toes.

I always get badly cracked heels in the summer and autumn and find that
1) I first soak my feet for 15-20 minutes in warm water (taking a long soaking bath is good too)
2) exfoliating the skin on my heels just by rubbing it with the palms of my hands. I don't use pumice or things like that as I tend to get over zealous.
3) Putting a good coat of either eucerine or vaseline on my heels and then a pair of heavy socks. (I wear heavy wool socks but not everyone can wear wool next to their skin)

What's nice about this is that you can use this either in the morning or at night. I prefer morning as the warmth of my body and the friction of my heels in shoes get more of the "grease" into where I want it. In a week or so my heels are just fine, and then I just keep them lotioned and exfoliated. Hope it helps. Heel cracks are so painful. Good luck.
PS: I agree that good fitting shoes will help too. Make certain your shoes ae wide enough and don't pinch anywheres. I have the luxury of wearing tennies most of the time but if you wear business shoes, you might have to sacrifice style for function for the sake of your heels.

Aveeno lotion for dry skin really works well. Or after you take a bath/ shower at night oil your feet ( pay close attention to your heels) with vaseline and put socks on. Sleep with the socks on, continue this for a couple days and that should work. Good luck!!

Moisturizer. Your feet Callouses are simply so hard and dried out that they are cracking. You have to use them every day. It's not a once or twice a week application. EVERY day.

Use one of those food plainers, they are really for grating food but they work great on my nasty heels. Also put vaseline on them and then wear socks to bed.

suggest your best bet would be to consult a podiatrist or perhaps a dermatologist.
