Part of the answer is easy. The other part is not easy. Easy part first. It is learned. Certain generalizations are true. It is true that people other than Caucasians, or white people, have greater amounts of pigmentation in their skin. It is true that *****, or African American, people generally have a larger bone structure than Caucasian. These are true of a general population. That is fact. What is not fact is that it is true of individuals within the general population. Other generalizations are that men are larger than women. We all know of exceptions. That is the first reason for stereotypes.
The hard one follows. Other stereotypes are loosely based on fact; or they are based on lies. When you have sparse or false information, then you also have a false conclusion with only a few accidental exceptions. The last reason is hate. If you hate someone then you are likely to believe bad things about them. There need be no basis other than the hate for the concept to stick very well. You can then pass the lie off as truth. Others who do not hate might believe the lie. They don't believe it because of hate, but rather because of trusting the source of the bad information.
That's about it.

The human brain is programmed to look for patterns. If your ancestors had not recognized what conditions in a valley were likely to grow a nutritional crop, you might not be here. If they were unable to recognize that an individual was of another tribe and meant you harm, they might not have had the opportunity to pass their genes on to the next generation.

For much of the history of mankind, this hardwiring has served us well, but the rapid changes in what is beneficial to society as a whole has changed more rapidly than our collective DNA has been able to.

Stereotypes are simply a form of pattern recognition.

IT UIS USUALLY A RESULT OF ONE OR TWO THINGS:

BAD MANNERS:

OR :

THE WAY THEY WERE RAISED!

MOST LIKELY THE LATTER! I AM NOT SAYING IT SHOULD BE THAT WAY BUT UNFORTUNATELY, CHILDREN 'LEARN' WHAT THEY ARE TAUGHT BY THOSE AROUND THEM!
