Braiding does not make hair grow faster, what grows hair is blood circulation, like u do when u massage the scalp. I have been doing hair for 25 yrs and I have noticed years ago when women set their hair, they only washed it once a week, as they have gotten older their scalp is hard and hair is thin, nowadays, we wash our hair more often so it keeps the scalp more stimulated so we have healthier hair. Hair vitamins do help in nourishing the hair to help grow. Braiding, if done too tight can actually cause breakage.

No this is just a tremendous myth. Now remember braids are just a hairstyle, not a growing technique. It just seems that way because you notice the braid lifting from your scalp b/c of new growth. Remember hair grows no matter what and braids do not influence hair growth. Only a great diet and great hair maintenance (regular trims, no cheap hair products, keeping it moisturized) influence hair growth.

The question really depends on the hair type, how regular you condition your hair and how tight are the braids. With regular conditioning with the braids in will maintain breakage when you decide to take the braids out they will come out smoother.

Yes, it does. But after you take the braids out, your hair will fall out a LOT when you comb it. Don't panic, it's just dead hair. the falling out will end in about a week.

i believe tat people THINK it may grow faster just because the regrowth is easily noticable, where as if your hair was naturally down, you wouldnt notice much of a growth change at all.

No! Its damaging to your hair. It just appears to grow fast because your not dealing with it every day. But if your going to get braids get cornrows their way less damaging
