how much does a war ship like a destroyer cost or a cruiser? bassically what is the price range of a us navy ship (and it doesent matter what type) just give me an estimate on the cost of any type of navy ship

I was just reading a RAND study on shipbuilding & the NAVY. A brand new DDG-51 class destroyer goes for $1.1 Billion Dollars.

For an AEGIS Destroyer it costs around $1.5 Billion. Most of that is for the combat systems, as they say, "steel is cheap", ...the technology isn't.

Around 2-3billion dollars. Damn, the U.S. Military spends 200 billion dollars a year for their troops, armaments, base expenses and warships.
