it is an ulcer that occurs in oral tissue, and yes it is related to STD.

sorry, couldn't find anything medical on that. only things sounded like jokes, or were in foreign language. Someone's screen name on some sites was shankroid, someone's screen name included "Shankroid - When You Kids Play So Much SpineShank That It Becomes A Pain In Your ***", and some foreign company's site contained something saying if they wanted to work in the us, they would need documentation stating they do not have aids, other stds and shankoid. Also, some foreign site that had nothing english mentioned it, and someone made a joke comment on someone's medical concern here on answers stating that "mary" had given him shankoid. Hoe you find something more plausible on it, sounds like a joke or something foreign to me.
