There is nothing wrong with having a couple of beers before going to work as long as nobody finds out off course. Everyone says you have a problem if you drink first thting in the morning and all that and eventually youll smoke a joint and then do some coke... Ive been doing it for like 7 years (couple of drinks before work), but its always been one beer or two at the most (I've had three a few times but thats the most I can have without smelling like it). And unlike what everyones told me for the last 7 years, one or two hasnt led to a whole six pack and a joint and cocaine and all that other BS. If you can keep it under control then its all good. Good Luck man and dont get caught.

You should not drink any alcohol before work for many reasons.
The most important is that alcohol is prohibited in any place of work, except in the places that sell it of course. Most companies have strict policies regarding alcohol usage while at work.
Another problem is that if an accident happens while @ work and you are to be taken to the hospital or clinic, they will notice it and report it to your work and you can kiss the job good bye.
But if you do it, just keep it to yourself and try to conceal your breath with mints or anything like that.
Stay out of trouble and leave the drinking for after work, is just not worth it.

Your girlfriend is being a good friend. You asked the question and probably know the answer. Forget the point gamers telling you what you want to hear. There are a whole world of ways (which I can only hint at here) to chill and unstress that wont endanger your health and life and the best of them involve your SMART girlfriend.

Drinking before work is usally considered to be the sign of a problem. Needing a few drinks to 'chill out' sounds like a rationalzation of a problem.
Why dont you try not having them and see what happens?

I guess it depends on the kind of work you do, if you drive a car, and what your behavior is like after these drinks. A high tolerance and drinking before work is usually a sign of trouble.

I'm not an AA guy, but that's a little extreme.
Not only that, but liquor is detectable on your breath.
If you're going to get stoned before work then BE CAREFUL!
Because, let's face it, that's what you're doing - that high tolerance stuff is what drunks call justifying their behavior (or something like that).

Its fine by me but you have to convince your girl friend and your boss. Infact I think that a person can do better work after having a couple of drinks, because you get a pleasant mood, and its always helpful to have pleasant mood at work. Unless if you are an Astrophysicist or the like.

No! Not only is it just not smart, but you can get fired. You shouldn't need a drink or two to chill out. Maybe you have a problem, not your girlfriend.
