There are a bunch... you have to find what works best for you and your bipolar type (I, II, III) with your psych Dr. I've been on things like lithium, celexa, depakote and ativan... good luck!

Mood stabilizers
may delay or relieve episodes of mania (highs) or depression (lows).
Antidepressants
are often used with a mood stabilizer in people with depressive episodes. If used alone, antidepressants may increase the chances of a person with bipolar disorder switching into mania.
Antipsychotics
are medications that are mostly used to treat mania. They may also be used to treat psychosis that can occur during severe episodes of mania or depression. Patients with severe anxiety or agitation may also receive antipsychotics. Antipsychotics may be used alone or with other medications for treating bipolar disorder. A healthcare provider may give other medications when a person with bipolar disorder cannot sleep or feels nervous.
Electroconvulsive therapy (ECT),
although not a medication, is a medical treatment used to help people with severe mania or depression. It can also help people who do not do well with medication.

Ask your doc if sertraline is right for you. Yes, I realized I spelled it wrong and the spell check doesn't seem to have a medical dictionary, but it's spelt the way it's pronounced.
