I'm not muslim, but my boyfriend's dad is and that's how my boyfriend was brought up. He's a Christian now... Anyway, for those of you who don't know how they fast, this is how they do it: They get up before the sun comes up and eat something. Then, while the sun is up, they don't eat or drink anything (including water). When the sun goes back down, they eat something light. They do this for a month.

I just wanted to know the thoughts people had about this. Health-wise. Is it healthy?

Sure...if your body has been at least somewhat conditioned to it. The mind is a powerful thing and can overcome the side effects from not eating or drinking. Religions have also been doing this for years but I would say before you try it, make sure you eat less and less before that time so your body gets prepared. Otherwise, you'll probably pass out from neglect on the body.

actually a study was conducted and showed that a person who eats meals very early in the day and very late has a lower risk of heart disease...

fasting is not only about not eating there are many other things for it as well...

for one you get to know what a starving person feels like, so you become more charitable because you've endured what that person does year round.

another is self control..you learn to curb your appetite instead of eating every 2 hours or so. you're also instructed not to perform sexual intercourse during ramadan...

to me this is healthy, but for some reason these people posting here think 70% of america being obese is healthy, good call guys.......

Are we going to be people who're going to get it?? whilst is he going to commence doing his activity as President? Why doesns't he only stay removed from non secular circumstances and picture with regard to the rustic and that's human beings! Oh! that's good! He would not have time! Too busy taking holidays! Pity his administration did not awaken only before now, and commencing performing like Democrats rather of mindless puppets! because of the fact the elections hold close to, one with the help of one, they're commencing as much as carry forth! Sorry adult males! Too previous simply by return on your senses.

I don't think that going all day long without any water to drink is such a good idea. Our bodies NEED water for all sorts of things - flushing out toxins, sweating, etc and our brains need water to function properly. Did you know that one of the first signs that an elderly person isn't drinking enough is when they start to seem a little confused?

Fasting is not healthy. Plus, these guys are not really fasting. They still eat when the sun goes down. If they were truly fasting, they would be going 24 hours a day straight without eating.

No it is very unhealthy, but considering my views on Muslims has changed drastically in the last five-years, I really don't care.

Probably not, but they've been doing it for over a thousand years, so it can't be that bad.
