The year before last, my son (then a freshly-minted 8-year-old) and I went as Indiana Jones and his dad. He had a leather-look jacket, a hat, and a bullwhip; I had a tweed jacket and cap, glasses, an umbrella and a briefcase, and as it turns out, a beard. So every house we'd go to, I'd do my Sean Connery imitation (which isn't bad!) and say "Remember to say 'thank you,' Junior," and he'd hold the bullwhip up to me and say, "DON'T call me Junior." And other schtick from the third Indiana Jones movie. We had a BLAST.

Last year he was Godzilla -- light-up eyes and atomic-fire-breath spines and all. I just followed along in a raincoat and the Indiana Jones hat... one friend asked me "What are you dressed as, a hobo?" Ah well.

Usually I just stand at the sidewalk and hold the flashlight while the kids run up to the door; for the past five years we've gone out with my oldest friend and his daughter, who's a couple years older than my son. This year my son is going to be Link from the "Legend of Zelda" games; I suspect I won't dress up, but I walk through the neighborhood with him every year.

Then we come back home and run the haunted house! This year it's the Forsaken Crematorium... should be AWESOME.

Neither my husband nor I have children but we got into this conversation the other night. We both really like Halloween and love to decorate and dress up. He can't wait to have kids of his own so that he can take them out and dress up with them!! I think it is the cutest thing when you see a great dad with there child all dressed up, you can really see the bond!!! Dress up and have fun you'll both enjoy it, even if you just do hair and makeup or if you go all out, halloween is about having fun thats all!!!

This is my favorite time of year...EVEN better than Christmas...I decorate the house, carve pumpkins EVERYTHING!! Last year our son went as the guy from Scream, the baby went as Mike WInowski from Monsters Inc, my husband was a cowboy (he's 39) and I went as a witch (I'm 41 now)~ Halloween is the BEST time of year to act like a kid and get away with it...LOL

This year our oldest is being a zombie...okay...so is the 3 yr old...and my husband is going as Shrek and me...Princess Fiona

i think a lot of parents dress up with the kids!
Last year my whole family dressed up as the cast from Shrek! Me being princess Fiona of course *haha* we went costume from head to toe!
My husband and I let our 5 yr old daughter decide the theme of costume and we go by that- as soon as our other daughter is old enough to make that decision we will let her choose the theme. Its fun for everyone.... Plus ... how many times a year can adults act like children and get away with it?!

I know a lot of parents who dress up with their kids....they make it a whole family thing. You could do a theme like Wizard of Oz or something along those lines

When my son was young we did the Halloween dress up thing together. He did the red "pleather" jacket & black "pleather" pants as Michael Jackson during the Beat It days & I was Boy George. Yes, I'm old.

I don't know but I am raising two grandchildren and I dress up every year to take them out. Why should they get to have all fun? It just wouldn't be as much fun if I had to wear my jeans and a sweat shirt.

i did no longer! ugh.. our city had Trick or manage already. i'm kicking myself yet I purely did no longer get around to *my* gown this 12 months. I observed the cutest maximum inexpensive concept (meaning a sturdy concept for *my* gown) on the on the instant tutor, of a Crayon gown. So i'm going as that next 12 months. All i choose is a sturdy colored occasion hat (like in pink) with pink sweat pants, pink sweatshirt and black cardboard around ankles and wrists and black decrease out letters that say crayon down the middle. I spend a brilliant number of time on the college this time of 12 months and that i presumed it would be cute for the youngsters, for me to gown like that.
