I've come to find that so many people are pretty stupid when it comes to beer. It's kind of driving me crazy. You got the people who like MGD/Budweiser and anything with the consistency of water and zero flavor. Then you got the people who like only imported beer (regardless of good or bad) and diss American beers. These same people assume any beer American is a crappy beer and have never heard of such micro-breweries such as Dogfishhead, Anchor Steam, Bell's, or many others. Then you've got you're level-headed people such as myself who think that any good tasting beer, regardless of the country it was produced in, is good. Don't get me wrong, there's a place and a time even for cheaper beer. Sometimes cheap beer is more cost-efficient when having a party. I love imported beers too. My favorite beers in the world are from Belgium. But to say that imported beers are far superior to American beers when they've never tried a micro-brew drives me nuts. Do you know what I mean?

I'm not saying somebody is stupid for having a different taste in beer. I'm saying some people are ignorant.

Those are the same people who think they hate beer and think they can only drink Bud Light because it has the last flavor, but it's most likely because they've never had good beer. It reminds me of how so many people think they hate seafood for the same reason. I agree, if I'm trying to have a "really good time," break out the pitchers of chep beer! But for the most part, I love to support (local especially) microbreweries. This is going to sound stupid, but my friend and I have to keep these "coffee passports" to write descriptions of coffees since we work at Starbucks, and we decided to start our own beer passports that we stuck the labels from our beers in with a description of color, location, taste (going down and coming up), and chuggability/heaviness. It's really handy and I've had people ask me about certain beers we tasted together in the past.

I've been brewing my own beer for years now and I prefer heavy stouts and wheat beers, and when I drink commercial beers I tend to go for micro-brews, Sam Adams or Imports. But when I'm craving a red beer I go for Michelob Light. Every beer has it's place from the best beer to the crap beers. Most of the "crappy" beers in the U.S. are from some of the oldest american breweries. To truly love beer you have to love the history of beer as well. Remember that we wouldn't have the microbrews if we didn't have the Budweisers and the Coors of the world. Most of the European beers are also made from mass conglomerates. Look up the makers of Carlsberg and see how many beers they make. You'll be amazed. Corona is the same. So don't look down on one beer lover because they don't love the same beers as you. I'm in the middle of Iraq right now and would even settle for a PBR or a Natty Light!

I am an amature zymurgist, been brewing for about 2 1/2 years. I have found that Americans in general want alcoholic water. A true Stout or a robust bock make them gag lol. A shame.

Well, I'm Canadian, and I like all kinds of beer, except Molson Canadian. Alot of people drink it's because it's Canadian and they think they're being patriotic or something. I've had alot of people give me a hard time because I drink "Yankee" beer like Budweiser, MGD, Old Milwaukee (excellent stuff), Busch, etc, but I say beer is beer regardless of where it's from.

What might be a good beer for you might not be for someone else. You can't say someone is stupid because they don't like the same beer as you.
