Why are they so thin? Is it to get us intoxicated faster from the sucking and to look nicer?

So it's for stirring: but why must be so thin? Because it looks better?

I agree with with a previous poster - they're mostly for stirring your drink. At least, that's what we used them for when I bartended.

They let the bartender and or waitress know at a glance that it is an alcoholic drink. If they see a minor with a small straw, it's easier to catch them getting a sip from someones drink!

no, they are thin and used for sterring. but if you drink beer with a straw, technically you should get drunk faster. and think about it, it is not in the bars best intrest to get a customer drunk faster.$$$$

It's fun to watch drunk people trying to suck harder to get more drunk.
