The Rev. Jerry Falwell acknowledged on Sunday that he said if Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton were the Democrats' presidential nominee in 2008, it would motivate conservative evangelical Christians to oppose her more than if the devil himself were running.

If you believe Mark Twain, then yes, as he once wrote of Satan, "Any being who held, as He has for uncounted centuries, the awe inspiring post of Political head of nine tenths of the human race, and Religious head of the whole of it, has got to have some executive ability." It would be hard to see how He could do much worse than the people we have now.

Well, since satan is a mythological figure and not real, then there's no way to tell what kind of president he'd be. And, since pretty much *anybody* would be a better president than bush, that must mean that in jerry falwell's (admittedly wacked-out) mind, bush is a worse president than satan would be as well!

Falwell's just doing what hypocritical, greedy religious power nuts like himself always do -- trying to get people to do what he wants by scaring them with bedtime stories about the devil. Given his bigoted nature, he'd feel the same way about any woman running for president, even if she were the biggest neo-con on the face of the planet. Why does an ignorant, blow-hard, bigot get such wide exposure in this country? Are fundamentalist neo-cons really that stupid to listen to this idiot?

This is the main reason why I'm Agnostic. Chalk another one up to Jerry Falwell, for leading people away from religion.

Hillary would (will) undoubtedly make a better President than Satan because Hillary is a real person; Satan, in contrast, is an imaginary entity.

To motivate conservative evangelical Christians, all you have to do is give them something to hate: liberalism, gay marriage, pro-choice.

As the saying goes, "I know you are a Christian, but what are you Christian against?"

At least with Satan, you'd know where you stood. I don't think you can say the same for either Hillary or Falwell.

Oh man. I am a die hard liberal democrat and I would probably never vote for Hillary. I don't find her to be sincere. I said probably, it depends on who will be running against her.

From what I have heard, if the gentleman in question thinks Hilary Clinton is a bad thing then it probably means she's a good thing.
