In Seoul, my favourite place is Myeong Dong...
Generally for the ecclectic mix of things available, and the best shopping (not cheap, but great stuff).
Also they have great food stalls there, it's easy to get to...
My favourite shop has really helpful, and good looking guys working there too haha.

For countrysides, I rather like Geo Chang. It's so peaceful there, and the people will bend over backwards to help you. Truly a great relaxing and friendly place... nothing much to do there, but relax. Public transport isn't the best, however hitchiking there is the easiest possibly in the world... even at dawn.

Geo Chang is the town part, then the mountain town is Wol Sung, and there is a nice river that runs down the mountain, some great Organic cafes, and in the summer they have festivals, it's a great time to mingle with the locals, and fellow relaxing holidayers.
I was only there for a couple of days, but seriously thinking of buying some land there.

Ulsan City, south korea.
Living here. And at the age of 50 hope I can stay till the end.
American, my husband and I have spent the last 16 years traveling mostly in southeast asia. Wanted to land and live in Thailand, Indonesia, China etc. but can't live on Malaria medicine forever, it hurts your liver and other functions, can't go to our friends in bali as -------------so we came here originally from California, San Francisco area, actually a small town in Napa Valley, and have setteled in the hyundai beach/industrial suburb of dong-gu. haven't seen any americans, not real touristy from what i have read but definately a wonderful place to hang, food lodging people transport you got it here.
A city that is so quite compared to american standards along with the fact a smile goes a long way.......... from infant to elders. Try to get an american to look you in the eye as you walk by, and gosh, if you smile they assume....sad to leave our family but happy to be with warm, not complex people of all ages here.

I like Seoul, because there's great shopping, entertainment over there. Moreover, the people in Seoul are all very united, and have a strong sense of nationalistic sentiment in them.
In addition, Korean dramas are simply fabulous.

Jeju Do, it is a beautiful place. Full of that tropical air and so relaxing. Beaches and amazing waterfalls. I am in fact taking my second trip there in a few days. I can't wait. It will be cooler this time but just as wonderful as last time.
