No, I don't believe you can set an age limit for every 13 year old. It all depends on how trust-worthy and mature they are, and who they're dating. It is rare that an average 13 year old is ready to date, but a few exceptions can be made. A 13 year old girl or boy who's dating should be well-educated and confident about topics such as peer-pressure (drugs, alcohol, violence/illegal activity) , date-rape, the benefits of abstinence, the ramifications of engaging in intercourse (being used, STD's, pregnancy, reputation). Many parents are down-right uncomfortable and unwilling to openly discuss and educate their children about these subjects at the "tender" age of 13; thus, they receive misinformation and influence PRIMARILY from their immature peers. These middle schoolers are already experimenting and talking about the topics I just mentioned; they are not as naive and innocent as we would like them to be- times have changed! It is approximately at this age when they are very interested in the opposite sex, and I would rather escort my son/daughter on a simple movie date with his/her mature date rather than forbid them to date ( which will likely cause them to rebel and engage in irresponsible activities.) That being said, some boundaries have to be set and the young teen should understand that breaking the boundaries you have set results in loss of trust and dating privileges. This would also be a good time to help them understand the difference between infatuation and genuine love! It should also be stressed that most young teens are too misguided and ignorant at this point to be trusted to date anyone. The answer lies in how the parent raises them!

It depends on what a 13 year old would describe as dating. Having a male friend is okay, as for sex, yes that is to young.

Yes, as a parent of 4 girls and 2 boys our rules were simple, no dating until you are 16 and then only double dates. and no single dating until 18. anything prior to that was chaperoned by an adult.

I'm not even reading anymore of this before I say YES. It is TOO YOUNG TO BE DATING.
Don't be in such a hurry to grow up. believe me, when it gets here, you'll want this time back again.

NO.
so many people will tell you youre too young, but youre not. i first had sex at 13, and i dont regret it at all. if you feel you want to date, then u shud - just think when you were 6/7 you didnt feel like going out with boys so you didnt go out with them. now that u do feel like it (also hormones play a big part in making you want to date, kiss and have sex) then u shud. theres nothing stopping you. go for it and good luck!

ps i HATE the pepl here that tell you youre too young dont you? you can make your own mind up! x

Of course..you want to stay in school and have a great education..cuz when u get older ur going to have the money etc and your not going to depend on anyone else..and your friends that are dating they probably end up pregnant before they graduate..so don't date..
