In ancient Jewish tradition Satan is simply an angel doing the work that God assigned to Satan to do.
The word Satan means challenger. With the idea of Satan challenging us, or tempting if you will. This description sees Satan as the angel who is the embodiment of man's challenges. This idea of Satan works closely with God as an integral part of Gods plan for us. His job is to make choosing good over evil enough of a challenge so that it becomes clear to us that there can be only one meaningful or logical choice.
Contrast this to Christianity, which sees Satan as God's opponent. In Jewish thought, the idea that there exists anything capable of setting itself up as God's opponent would be considered polytheistic or setting up the devil to be an equally powerful polarity to god or a demigod.
Oddly, proof for The Christian satan/devil mythology is supposedly found in the ancient Jewish texts that were borrowed to create the bible. One can’t help but wonder how Christians came up with such a fantastically different interpretation of Gods assistant Satan in their theology.
Other hints about Satan’s role in human relations can be seen if you look at the name Lucifer. It meaning in the original tongue translates as Light bearer or light bringer. Essentially the bringer of enlightenment. The temptations of the Satan idea bring all of us eventually into Gods light. Hardly the Evil entity of Christian mythology.

if you believe in Satan...
you must know his story.
He was the best among the best in the heavens.
He stood high above everyone else (except from God Himself).
He was so filled with pride, that he got blinded on where he stood.
He wanted to be God, that is why he rebelled against God.
But he lost his "prized" place in the heavens and was thrown down like a lightning bolt.
And he has since been thinking of one thing, ... revenge.
Then a time came that he saw his chance.
He saw that God sent His Son to be a man (a mere man,
someone he can take his revenge on).
He tried, and tried, and he tried.
And then finally he had his perfect chance, he cannot persuade God's Son to cooperate so he perverted other men's minds to kill God's only Son (his heir apparent).
He triumped (but that was only for 3 days).
God's Son rose from the dead & triumphed over everything,
even death.
Now, that made Satan a two time loser and much more mindful of revenge.
Who do he go after now?
You guessed it.
People who follow God's Son have now been called God's children themselves, they are co-heirs with God's only begotten Son.
Now, he is after all those co-heirs...and it would make him happy to see them suffering as he will be.
(And of course, even if he wanted to get his revenge on God in the first place, he couldn't, there was no way, so he's just someone who's pissed off in a very humongous way).

The enemy only has the power that we give him. Yes, he will lie, take the power and then use it against us. Crazy stuff!
Satan's goal is to take as many souls to hell with him...
He's kind of like an ex that is mean and hateful. Doing everything they can to hurt you...keep the kids when they are due home, anything to hurt you or twist the proverbial knife. Well...that's Satan.
John 10:10 says the enemy comes but to kill, to steal and to destroy...
That pretty much covers it...

is it not possible to believe your own hype? can you delude yourself? well.... if you believe the "hype" errmmm sorry i mean the bible... then satan is the father of lies and deception it could be possible that he could indeed delude himself (think: can god make a rock so big he couldnt lift it?...) it could be possible that the only truth he believes are his own lies and he believes he can win... or quite possibly he can win... ever thought about that? wouldnt whatever side you are on want you to believe you win the final battle? i think its called morale... besides if satan had the power to oppose god and only be cast out of heaven and not destroyed than is it not possible he could win a spiritual war? what would you do if you thought you could be more than what your current status is so you try to better yourself and those above you damned you opposed you and took away everything you once were in addition to smashing your dreams... id be more than a little pissed off wouldnt you?

Well, Satan is satisfyied when he can gain another soul for himself. He only can think of the self pleaure that he can temporarily receives. He also thinks that he is the most high of all things, in other words untouchable. He knows that God created him, but he still wanted to be higher and receive praises.

Satan doesn't care. He obviously realizes that he is a creation of god just like everthing else in existence. And that his creation was part of gods plan and he is just fufilling the destiny that god laid out for him. After all if god didn't want him doing what he is doing why would god have created him in the first place. god is all knowing after all isn't he. Satan is just doing his part in this game god likes to call, "pulling the wings off a fly just to torture it". god loves this game.

Satan is like a roaring lion, walking to and fro, seeking whom he may devour.
It matters a lot to him, as he has lost all he could have had, and wants to steal the souls of those who God has created in His own image. So, if he can't have it, he doesn't want you to have it.
