I been a backslider for a while, I'm now having trouble with my anger and I get biggity with people and it's causing me to get hurt and getting me in trouble. That's why I don't have the Holy Ghost. I really need help and I need the Holy Ghost because I want to go to Heaven and the Word of God says 'Flesh and blood may not enter the kingdom of God' I don't have self-control with my anger. I get angry and biggity when somebody tell me what to do and confront me on the things I've did wrong. It's a habit that's been going on since my childhood and if I don't learn to control it, I'm going to end up in jail again, seriously hurt, back in the institution, or maybe dead. I've tried to read the word (bible), fast, &pray to get closer to God and to be saved but I'm too addicted to TV, radio, and internet maybe food, also things of the world. Please help me I want be saved.

When you accept Jesus as your savior and that he died in your place, you are going to heaven, cannot lose salvation, and have the holy spirit. It is true you may quench or grieve him with things like anger and fear, but you are already accepted in the beloved and God doesn't see you as a sinner but as a saint seated in heavenly places.

For Jesus did two things on the cross,

1. He took away our sins...as in many sins (they were all taken away even future sins and all our sins were future then..even though it seems only the present and past ones we do are forgiven, in truth, all our future sins are already forgiven and forgotten as far as east to west and nothing can keep us from the love of God

That you that you dispise for sinning (and that you that loves and is drawn to sin) is dead already in God's eyes as Jesus said when HE died, WE died (that is, the whole human race)..he said he nailed us to the cross with Him and that he is the 2nd Adam and that by one man (Adam the first adam) sin became impressed on all men (original sin) yet so too did the 2nd Adam (jesus) by his one act forgive many sins and restored us not only to the pre-fall pre original sin state of innocence but also gave us his own sinless and perfect character..he exchanged our filthy rags for his clean robes. He fixed what Adam messed up and then some.

When we place our trust in those words and what he tell us, that we believe what He says is true even if it doesn't feel true (put your faith in facts not feelings), even when it seems untrue, we will progressively see our life getting holier and holier. It will just srart to happen by the Holy Spirit's power.

It is like that song--I have decided gonna live like a believer, turn my back on the deceiver, gonna live what I believe, I have decided being good is just a fable I know I can't cause I'm not able, gonna leave it to the Lord. (some recent updates say I know I can for He is able..gonna leave it to the Lord.

This song is about that I speak of and to show to show He does all the works of sanctification (not by our efforts and striving) but just like when we were saved by faith in His finished work on the cross..

ISantification is not salvation...it is not necessary to be saved and both sanxtified and carnal Christians are going to heaven.

But sanctification works jkust like salvation..He does the ork and gets the glory and we can't boost about either and our part of these free gifts is faith--faith in what he has already done on our behalf.

Read Romans--the living way version and see the book amazing grace by Hal Lindsey for more explanation.

Rest assured as long as you were saved and trusted in Jesus to save you and believed that he took your place and the wrath due you for your sins and that you are saved through faith not works lest any man should boost, you ARE going to heaven and you DO already have the holy spirit...I highly recommend this book..it helped me understand things more than any other thing I ever read.

Now also understand that Jesus wants you to conquer your sins and you will still get the natural consequences of sins such as people not liking you, feeling guilty, getting in trouble etc this is to hopefully spur you on towards working to fix it by trusting and believing more. The devil will try to tell you it is a lie and confuse you, but if you stand firm and rebuke ZHim and what He says, you will conquer through Christ and the Holy Spirit...it may come gradually.

Well, that's a good start. At least you know! You are MORE self aware than MOST PEOPLE in general!

Study Jesus more.

LOVE your neighbor.

LOVE your enemy.

If STRUCK on the right cheek turn the LEFT

JESUS, however, did NOT intend you to be a whipping post!

But JESUS expects you to STOP once you have made the point that you will NOT tolerate a whipping.

At some future date, get Baptized again. It will eventually come to you.

YOU have to do the work and YOU more than anyone else around seems to KNOW what the score is.

That means GOD is behind you pushing, but you're just not ready yet to LET GO.

One day you will. You'll let go and it will happen.

If YOU can see these things then GOD is definately with you and on your side.

Keep going.

LEARN the ways of Jesus.

Most Christians have NO idea what Jesus is about.

LEARN IT

FIND IT

DISCOVER IT

BECOME ONE WITH IT

YOu certainly can see the world better than most people. So SEE what Jesus is trying to show everyone.

You seem to stand a better chance than most!

You have the Holy Ghost.

You do need to learn to control yourself. This takes time. Sometimes you instantly get transformed ... but most of the time God wants you to learn how to do it on your own accord.

Parable: Kinda like a morbidly obese person. They can get lipo suction. Usually when they do this, they gain the weight back. This is because the didn't learn the self-sacrifice and discipline to modify their behavior. A person who diets, controls their calories, exercises and looses the weight will have a greater chance of keeping the weight off ... this is because they put in the time, discipline, education, routine, and behavior modification to obtain this goal.

So too, do you need to learn the little steps to get you to your controling your anger, short temper, and addictions. Try SHUTTING UP for 1/2 hour a day ... this is no TV, Radio, Computers, Books, and sit in pure silence. Start increasing this as you become better at the silence. With the instant rage ... well the best quick fix is to tense up all your muscels at the same time, count to 10 and slowly exhale ... repeat up to 10 times.

Good luck & God Bless.

If you have back slid, you need to repent and rededicate your life to the Lord. You are describing a flesh problem, the flesh is in constant battle with the spirit for control of you. Make sure you read the bible and pray every day, go to church every time the doors are opened ,if you can. You decide to turn off the TV when something bad comes on. There are deliverance ministries out there. You don't earn the baptism of the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues, its a gift. Tarry at the alter and have someone praying with you for it. You can live a good Christian life, just make up your mind to and stick with it.

There are a lot of questions in your question. You are not alone. There are many people who feel the way you do. A sincere confession is a wonderful thing. An important part of being a christian is agreeing with God about sin. It is clear that you do. You are way ahead of many people who just don't want to admit that what they do is wrong or that there is such a thing as sin.
One thing you might want to do is go to a church service and re-dedicate yourself to God. It might help to give you some focus or clarity. Something else that helps me is realy knowing that as a human being I am powerless over my sin nature. It is more natural for me to sin than not to. Also take one thing at a time. Give your life to God and work on one thing at a time. Anger can actually be a positive thing. There is one thing that God hates and that is sin. It becomes a powerful force when we truly hate the sin in ourselves. God wants us to be "more than conquerors through Christ who loved us and gave His life for us." I can tell you that I could not stop smoking, three packs a day. It's been 30 years now since I have smoked. God did for me what I could not do for myself. I know I couldn't because I tried everything. God wants us to try because in trying we get stronger. But without His help we cannot have total victory. I have not drank for over 5 years. Again I couldn't do it. I gave my best effort and God did the rest. Now I'm working on overeating. I've lost 30 lbs by fasting. I have 13 to go. That's why I'm sitting here at the library instead of being at home. I have to find something I'm more passionate about than food. For me that is showing people that they are loved, that they are precious to God. I show God's love and sew His word. When I am tired enough I will go home and sleep. God will help me win this battle over overeating. The T.V. ...I have unplugged it for awhile. You need true hearted christians to surround you with the love of God. Father I pray for this brother right now that You reveal Your great love for Him even now when he feels like a failure. Show him the great works you have for him to do and the purpose for his life here on earth. Send all the help he needs his way and help him have faith to trust You one step at a time. Assure him of his salvation and fill him with Your Holy Spirit, for it is in Jesus name I pray, Amen

Pray, pray, pray. Get into a small group or bible study with your church and ask others to pray for you, and keep you accountable. If you have problems with tv, or listening to the wrong radio station, get some christian music CD's and listen to them. Get rid of your tv, I'm not kidding. Find Christian friends that can hold you accountable and who you can call when you feel tempted. Satan wants you to get far from the Lord, and crerate distance. If you believe in Jesus Christ and that He died for your sins, then you will enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Get as involved with church as possible.

I am in the same boat..I spend too much time on the computer, and don;t get into the Word nearly as much as I can. Whenever there is an event at my church that needs volunteers, I help. Being in the presence of Godly people, and feeling God working in my life to make me more holy and pure is such a blessing. Beiung able to say "no" to things I once couldn't get away from, is amazing. You CAN do it, belive in God's power.

religion and spirituality aren't some magic pill...

when you read about people who had all these great things happen once they believed or whatever... its not like they took some jebus pill and woke up the next day without any problems.

the belief and faith acted as a catalyst for something they already had inside themselves, and it just gave them a way to... activate, and utilize that.

if you feel like your addicted to TV... then stop watching tv for say a week or two, or a month. focus on something small like that to start with, and you'll find your mind becoming suprisingly less cluttered, just by exerting the will to restrain yourself from something like that.

this comes both from removing the "noise" of the tv, and from the mental exercise of exerting that willpower.

If you have accepted Christ as your savior, then you are saved. I think you are having a problem forgiving yourself. You just need to be delivered from the guilt and anger and believe God to fill you with the Holy Spirit. No one is perfect, and you will never be perfect. You have to rely on God's grace to give you strength and have faith to receive what you need and want from Him. I hope this helps.

I going to bet money that you are an African American.

Am I correct?

Ive noticed that many african americans (no offense...just an observation) have trouble taking directions and also in taking constructive critisism... It is not a personal failure of yours - it seems to be a cultural flaw.
You need only to get an understanding of why you feel this anger. Searching for a mythical sky deity will not prevent your anger, and it will not control your anger. Only you can have control over this. Perhaps if your beleif system didnt force you to beleive that you are a victim of Satan and sin, then you would be able to take responsibility for your own actions and feelings, and would be able to learn to control them....

You have all the help you would need...'you yourself.'
It's good that you know your folly; all you need to do is correct them..with the help of God.
Getting to heaven is a personal contract between yourself and God; no preacher or teacher can take you to heaven..if you want to get there, you will correct your faults; it's like normal life..its a challenge! I believe in you.\Now go do the right thing!

If you got saved and I am not talking about baptism then you received the Holy Spirit that same day. Baptism does not save only Jesus saves.
Rom 8:9 But ye are not in the flesh , but in the Spirit , if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you . Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ , he is none of his.
If your not saved keep seeking for him and he shall be found.
