My mom's now fiance had to fight like crazy to get custody of his two children. With the right lawyer and with everything put together properly it can be done. It didn't take him long at all.

ussually they don't like to separate the child from the mother. however, if the mother is unfit to care for the child, they will give him to the father. if you both fight hard for the child, you can get split custody which is half half, which is what happened with my sister.
