No. Only 14% of Englishmen consider themselves Christian, and only 30% of the English Christians are Catholic.
Only 4% of Englishmen are Catholic.

I think you read the same statistics I did a while ago, but it was about the United Kingdom, of which England is only one part, and I was not interested enough to check it out, but I remember being surprised that it said that in the UK Roman Catholic was the faith of more people than any other denomination.
Maybe that was because they counted the Anglican Churches of England, Scotland and Ireland separately, or maybe there are really more Roman catholics, I don't know.

I would think it is true that most Englishmen today are descendants of Catholics as England was a Catholic country before Henry V111, but since then the Catholic population in this country has dwindled but is growing fast across other continents.

They were all Catholics until king Henry viii decided he wanted a divorce from Catherine of Aragon. The Pope disagreed so Henry set up his own Church, and forced the population to renounce Catholicism and join his Church. Those who refused were persecuted and discriminated against until the late 19th century.
In this present era of supposed equality the reigning Monarch is still banned from marrying a Catholic.
If it wasn't for Henry viii, England would still be a Catholic nation.

Henry viii saw to it that the catholics were decimated when Rome would not grant him a divorce all those years ago.
There is a very famous quote about this from Brendan Behan which is not for this forum

My mums ancestors have been from eire nevertheless and weren't unquestionably english. in actuality maximum catholics right here look to get their faith from irish ancestry........ There are extra human beings right here that are catholic than many human beings think of! It does not make me experience much less english, i do no longer think of i unquestionably quite had any english ancestors yet I nonetheless call myself english of course reason i become born and raised right here so become my mum etc. i do no longer care what the state faith is, i do no longer see church of britain with the aid of fact the religion of this u . s . considering that there are such a brilliant number of catholics right here and individuals of none christian religions for this reason what's the could have a state faith? that is pointless, to boot further and added all human beings is transforming into none non secular besides. I heard the guy in line to the thrown of britain can marry somebody of yet another faith or the different denomination of christianity yet in no way a catholic with the aid of fact of a few regulation that a former king or queen made, i think of that is ridiculous and pathetic tbh! I propose what's the undertaking?? to boot england become a catholic u . s . like in certainty all of europe till henry the 8th replaced it i think of that is demanding nevertheless while human beings assume english all human beings is in certainty all C of E, like I pronounced there are such a brilliant number of extra catholics right here than what human beings think of, somewhat right here interior the north west of britain.

This is a wind-up, right? Catholics have been in the minority since Henry VIII started his own religion! Did you mean to say Irishmen (and what about the women, or don't they count?)
