I was in a fender bender, but there was never a police report filed. However, I did file a claim on my insurance company. If I was to switch insurance policies, would the new insurance company be able to know about the accident? OR since there was no police report is it not on record?

Unfortunately, yes they are. It's called CHOICEPOINT (C.L.U.E., Inc) and ALL Insurance companies use this company as a repository of claims information to cross check everyone for all types of policies (Home, Auto, Liability, etc.). But, the good thing is because they are legally considered a Credit Bureua you can request a copy of your file to see what they have on you. You are entitled to a FREE report from them as required by the FACT ACT. Who knows, maybe they don't have anythiong on you. Give it a try. Anything filed through the insurance company is reported to CLUE so that all insurance companies can view it. So, yes. Other insurance companies can see you have had an accident since you filed a claim.

It will be on record with your claims history, which insurance companies check through the usage of CLUE reports. The police report issue is n/a.

Insurance companies can pull up your DMV records. Insurance companies request a MRV report, which has all your driving history.
