From what I've seen, they seem to almost be scared of what they might possibly do (Oh, excuse me--what SATAN might have them do) in the presence of the opposite gender...

gough: This question is purely hypothetical and bears absolutely NO relation to anything personal. I am a happily married woman, and I'd appreciate if you'd leave your false assumptions at the door, thank you.

Wow...where's all the Christians at? So far only one Christian has stepped up to the plate. Looks like I might have my answer after all....

Gomergirl: Basically, the Church spends a lot of energy keeping men and women segregated. I already know this as I spent a large portion of my life there. I remember trying to ask the pastor questions in his office and I had to be "escorted" by two male parishioners---just in case I or the pastor "tried anything immoral". I felt that very insulting. What I am wondering is...

...why Christians cannot just control their urges the way everyone else does. I find this odd.

i don't understand exactly what you are asking. do you think that christians blame satan for their sex drives? or that they feel guilty if their self control fails and they give in to sex outside of what the bible says is ok? (which is pretty much summed up that all things are ok if the partners are married and agreeable)

i saw another of your questions about segregating congregations...is this in relation to that?

we all have desires and feelings and such. but as christians we are called to disregard our desires and live for a higher calling. but it also says that we can marry to give release to those desires.
not trying to read into your question, it's sad out there that some churchs really twist the truth of hte bible so that their followers and those looking in get the idea that christians are a bunch of prudish, self righteous, bigoted, idiots who are out fo money and self preservation. i hope that you find what you are looking for.

i'm sorry that you had such an experience. it makes me sad to see so many peopl who affected in a truly negative way in the name of someone who professed and expressed love.
i think one aspect of not being alone together, is in how it looks to other people. how many times hve rumors started over an innocent exchange, that have ruined the lives of all those involved. but that is because there is a lack of integrity in the church today. it is hard, because we are all imperfect people dealing with a perfect deiety and each other we always seem to screw it up even when we have the best intentions.
again, really hope and pray that you will see the difference between the huaman side and the real truth

AMAZING QUESTION! *applaudes*

It they didn't have the fear of Hell, they would be the most WILDEST people out there. God forbid the day people realize God is fake (pardon the pun) LOL

BTW your other question is great too. What do these people to sitting on a Bus, or at the office?! If you can't control your damn sexual urges in a CHURCH then what the hell do they do in the real world

Christians - even 'Fundamentalis Christians' - are just like anybody else. We all vary in what is tempting to us, and to what degree. A person who wants to keep from crossing a line sexually will often stop the process before that line is even close - at least, a wise person will. Once the body gets 'revved up' sexually it can be difficult to stop, or even slow down. My question to you is, 'are you putting someone in an uncomfortable position by pressing them to go farther sexually than they want?'.

It is amazing how the most fiercely religious seem to be those who would otherwise evidently go on a shooting spree.

Why do they have so little faith in themselves or in humanity?
