I've been dying my extremely thick hair black for 3 to 4 years. A little less than a year ago I tried bleaching it out, and of course it only turned my roots orange as I knew it would, (don't follow a mother's advice when it comes to haircolor). The brand of dye that I use is Revlon Colorsilk--Permanent--10 black. As you can guess I'm getting really bored with it so I wanted to know if there was a way to get rid of it, such as getting it professionaly stripped? I'm not sure what to do seeing as how there are so many layers of black and fear of damaging my already frizzy-thick-unstraightenable hair. So please, how do I get rid of it!?

My suggestion would take a while, but it's the only thing I can think of that won't kill your hair. I had this problem once. To get rid of it, I began touching up my roots with a slightly lighter 28-day shade (Natural Instincts - Nutmeg). The semi-permanent stuff isn't hard on your hair, and as the black lightens, you can touch up each month with lighter shades until it's gone. If you want to go blonde, you will probably need to have it professionally stripped, but they will tell you upfront that it will pretty much kill your hair. Like anything else in life, there is no easy fix.

It would be best to go to a professional to get your hair "un Dyed", but if you are willing to take the chance, there are a couple of suggestions. 1. Loreal for brunettes. or 2. Garnier for brunettes. these products will take your hair color down to the level that you want without totally stripping it, that is if it is not too late. Good luck.

You should probably strip the color first. They can do this at the salon or you can do it at home with a product from Sallys Beauty Supply. I've had lots of hair nightmares where my hair went from dark brown to orange and it's not something you want to deal with. If your going lighter, Iwould strip it first.

As a hairstylist. It is hell. I won't lie to you. You will have to have it bleached. Do not attemp tblonde. You can get it to a brown or red stage without too much damage.

Have a hairdresser take care of it. Stripping is probably the only way to take care of it. Once it's stripped, then you have more options.

PROFESSIONALLY!
I have had color removed professionally before (my own mistake) - which turns it a gold color. then they highlighted brown all over, to kind of mimic a semi-normal haircolor, until my own was salvagable.

I had to bleach it out and then find a color that I liked to die it but you could go to the solon

it hard to get rid of black color. i think you should just let if fade before you dyed another color so that way you won't have to deal with odd looking color and damage your hair.

go to the salon. ask friends or trusted co-workers where they go and how long they have been going.

oh god.....i would just leave it alone and let it grow out.....and keep getting it trimmed to ge the dead ends off
