whether or not you've become sexually active yet really doesn't matter...yes you should start taking birth control. not trying to sound shovanistic.....but look at it this way..........
do US soldiers in Iraq have weapons?....yes
does evey soldier hope to use it on someone?.....no
but do they carry it with them at all times making sure the gun is cleaner than they actually are?....yes
the reason.......
it's better to have protection (whether it be a weapon or birth control) and not need it.....than to need it and not have it.....catch my drift?
and since you say that you're already sexually active...then hell yes you need it....the people on here who tell you you shouldn't get it or the "yes but no at the same time" answers arn't answering that way because they think you shouldn't be on a form of birthcontrol....tey are giving those answers because they do not agree with the fact that you are sexually active at your age. be smart about it. use birth control and a condom every time or you will end up a 17 year old with a baby, a Sexually Transmitted Infection, or possibly both....
My advise to you.....start visiting the clinic when your parents arn't around and using their services for STD checks, birthcontrol and contraceptives.....hide it from your family as much as you can.....but if and when they find out....remember...they're gonna get mad at you, not for being on birthcontrol, but for the very same reason you're getting the "no" and the "yes but no" answers......just explain to them that whether they like it or not...you are sexually active and you not having access to birthcontrol and contraceptives isn't going to make you magically stop having sex. it's going to put you at risk and that your decision to go on them was made with the concerns about your health and future in mind. better to be responsible about it then leave it to chance.

There might be a clinic in your area that will give you birth control for free or almost free. And they can not tell your parents. In Minnesota it's Planned Parenthood. I don't know if they are in other states or not.

However, if you are sexually active you should be using condoms anyway. There are worse things out there then getting pregnant. Think about AIDS and all the other STD's out there.

Go ahead and get the pill, but take care of yourself and use condoms as well.

If your having sex you should get birth control...you don't have to ask your parents, you can go to a planned parenthood or the health department and get help...they will ask you if it is ok to call your house and send mail with their name on it...just say no or give them your cell phone # ...your right you would definately be safer with it....I had a friend who put her birth control in a regular pill bottle so her parents wouldn't know what it was

You should definately be on the pill. And use condoms. The consequences of not being careful are really too drastic to play with at such a young age. Just tell your parents you need birth control. They'll appreciate that better than an unexpected grandchild.

Yes. The fact you realise you would be safer with it is a great thing. Don't be afraid to talk to your mum about it either.

Also, make sure you use condoms too, as birth control pills won't protect you against sexually transmitted diseases.

DO IT!!!!! I was in the same situation as you and finally someone told me about a Planned Parenthood and I decided to go as soon as I got my period well guess what I had to wait an additional 9 months and just liek you I was 16 and was afraid to ask my mom 4 birth control. Me and my mother never had that type of relationship. Personally I would tell your mom and if she wont take you then go to Planned Parenthood yourself! If your mom finds your pills you can atleast be at ease that you attepmted to tell her. teens will do as they please so abstenece is usally nowadays not wrk!! So best of luck (If you were in the Chicago Land area Id be able to help you out with plenty of confidential free clinics)

I to have been in your position and by the time my mother even knew I used to be having sex, I was once prego. I now have two teenage daughters and i realize that as a mum or dad now, i do know I are not able to discontinue them from doing it, but i will be able to avoid them from being baby's having little one's like I was. I might as a substitute be requested for aid rather to look them turn out to be like I was once. I will likely be willingly getting my women on something earlier than they are pressured to develop up, by having a youngster. You simply have to inform your mother and let her recognize you will have already had intercourse and also you probably gonna do it again, you are trying to be responsible about it and want her to take delivery of that and help you get what you need. You are able to do it, just buck up, your females enough to have intercourse be ladies enough to tell your mom. Consider me you'll be pleased you probably did! Just right success

I personally think 16 is too young to be having sex. However IF you are having sex at that young age, then Please YES get some and use birth control. Asking your parents (or a doctor, counselor) for birth control is way, way better than getting pregnant at your age. Please stay safe. Protect yourself from STDs, AIDS, other diseases, and Pregnancy. Good luck.
