I did that, and had a permanent mark on the image. It magnetized the screen, and distorted the colors on that spot.
I was told that TV repair shops sometimes have a round magnet that they can roll around on the screen with their hand. It removes or randomizes the magnetization in that spot. Try calling a TV or electronic repair shop in your area and ask them about it.
If they don't have one, or can't do it, you MIGHT try using the same magnet, or a weaker one, and move it around constantly over that portion of the screen. Think of what you're trying to do as diffusing the charge on that spot. Don't stop the magnet in any spot for more than a second or two, or you'll have another spot with distorted colors or images, though!

the crt (cathode ray tube) has become magnetized-gaussed. the problem can be fixed using an electronic tool called a degaussing coil-but first check there are no large speakers placed near the set as this can often cause the same problem you are experiencing. if there are none then the set will require the services of a professional tv repairman. but is not a big job and the repair should be carried out in your own home.

Take magnet away from screen and switch the set off totally with on-off switch, wait for ten minutes for auto-degaus circuitry to get ready to erase magnetism. Then switch on the tv set.

maximum CRT TVs have a outfitted-in degausser that operates anytime you means-up the television. This gadget could be all you want. in case you do not see progression after some days of turning the set on and stale a pair of situations an afternoon, you will ought to get a restoration guy or woman to apply an exterior degausser.

You need to DeGauss the screen
Some TVs have this feature built into a menu.
Older ones don't and have to be taken to the shop.
I did this to a friends TV when I helped him move and his stereo speakers sat next to the TV. His TV had a Degaus button on the back so look there if it is not in the menu
