if someone had been burnt would you rip off there clothes straight away or leave them on for the docs to remove, surely to leave them on would be worse as they would stick to the skin?

in the case of burns and scalds
Do not remove the clothing , as this will cause more damage ,#
Most important , action, you can take immediately ;is to
-----COOL THE BURNT AREA -------
( with copious amounts of water) .
if the burn is covered with clothing , SOAK that where it is .
To prevent further damage .
the cloth will be stuck to the skin, during the original burn .
and may need to be removed surgically in the emergency room
It is instinctive to want to remove clothing, after a burn ,
but if this is done, you may strip off a large amount of skin.
Making recovery and treatment more difficult .
a burn can cause ;
tissue damage
traumatic shock
infection
Long term disfigurement
This is one of the most serious injuries to cope with

As a firefighter, I can assure you it is painful to remove clothing if it has burnt to the skin. If you a witnessor bystander, however, you should NEVER attempt to remove anything from a burn victim. To do so allows bacteria to enter a gaping wound, whereas the material that has been burned to the skin acts as a shield against outside elements. Burn specialists, surgeons, and doctors have the professional training to properly remove articles from charred skin. If you are the victim of a burn, it almost a reaction to grab burning material and rip it off. It is something you can't help.

Leave the clothes. When you rip off the clothes you're exposing the burnt skin to the open air, and putting the victim at greater risk for infections that can lead to death. Burns are highly susceptible to infection, and the clothing actually helps until they arrive at the hospital to be treated.

come on now. the person is already burnt, and by ripping them off could only cause more pain or discomofort. have some dignity for the person, how would you feel if you were taken into a hospital naked? even if he is burnt,he may no what is going on and even if he does not, the last thing he or she needs to hear is that they were taken to the hospital naked. and would you want to be the one responsible for this.

in chase of a burned person the only thing to do, is remove him/her from the danger zone, cool the burned area on his body....as soon as possible..because if u do it after 30min it`s useless....and make sure he gets to medical care,,,,leave the clothes or the pieces of plastic on the patient,,as they will be most likely be removed under anesthesia , in a germ-free environment...
(a burned wound can be considered sterile because the fire kills all the germs in the area...)

I think you are supposed to fling the person who has been burnt under cold running water ASAP and then remove their clothes.
This is one piece of advice I hope I never have to use !

im pretty sure you leave on.
but how about this one:
call the fire dept, they are the professionals
all you would need to do while you wait for them is put the fire out.
and then you use stop drop and roll.
