they tried that in China, now they have an ageing population and no-one to pay for them, its a no-brainer, unless you actually put people down at the age of 65, it wont work, someone has to look after the elderly who cant work, one child per couple wont do it..
Also in the third world countries a lot of children is the only way to ensure you dont starve to death when you are old, if you actually get old that is, and if you can actually get some of your children to live long enough to look after you, its easy to criticise the population explosion, but not good if you are living on the edge and your only hope is your children.

Bob,
Whats this got to do with "Dining Out in London"?
Having said that, I think they have a similar system in China but I think it has resulted in girl babies being killed in country areas (because they will not be able to work) which does not seem acceptable.

Do you think you can stop Africans in Africa?
A white person can't have babies if they are starving but Africans keep churning the out.
China put a one child stop on the population, now there's a panic because they are running out of girls and have repealed the law.

Your looking at this the wrong way around. You don't want to stop people from having babies, you want medicine to be banned at let natural selection take its course.
Modern medicine has got Darwin spinning in his grave.

I've thought that too. There is a flaw in this idea though - developing countries where child mortality is high.

People are never going to realize that and even if they did, they would not listen because most of them do not think about the future. arent people so stupid?
