Now I know that immigration is a touchy subject to people now and I have my views about it too, but the fact is the questions are being asked from concern not digust, Nobody here is a waste of skin (heard that comment recently), Peoples lives are at stake when it comes to how we live here and when you have to learn another language to get a job then people start to get concerned. My question is this Is it better to help those here who cant help themselves or as another young lady stated, try to help other countries like Mexico to live better so they dont want to come here? I think personally we should take care of us

I think we should take care of the American citizens that are in our country. I do not think we should take care of the illegals here. I also think that it is their job to help their country, not ours. I am not against private humanitarian groups going down there and helping out, it is their group, that is funded by donated money, it is not my taxes being wasted on a country that I don't live in. Mexico has it better than some other countries, like the ones in Africa that are having droughts year, after year. Those countries need international help and get some, yet everyone thinks it is the USA's job to personally help mexico, and no one elses. Everyone needs to see that we have enough of our own poor, and starving, and homeless, and needy people of our own that we need to help first, before we even think of helping another country.

I think we should take care of ourselves first. We certainly have our share of poor, homeless, and disadvantaged people. I don't mean being selfish but I think everyone needs to get their own personal "ducks in a row" in order to be in a better position to lend aid to others. And I agree with you that the U.S. has always been big on the good neighbor policy almost to a fault. I am a proud American and I am thankful that I live here and I sincerely try not to lose sight of that fact. I think most people are guilty of getting used to the way we live and then taking it for granted. But then I see the conditions in which other people live and I have to stop and count my blessings. Financially I am not rich by any means but I feel very rich in so many other ways!!

I recently read an article on immigration facts ie the percentage of Orange County jail that is Hispanic, ect. I was appalled by the numbers. The amount of debt our country accrues by allowing all these illegal immigrants to stay. And I also just watched a documentary on MS 13. The gang started in LA. VERY scary. I don't know what is right. I understand them wanting to come here to escape their lives, but should we really have to pay the staggering costs? I think free birth control in Mexico is a great place to start.

We can do both take care of our own and help those in developing countries. Poverty has no boundaries and it doesn't discriminate due to color or nationality. The third world comes and does the jobs Americans won't , educate their children and it allows them to prosper. When that happens Americans get mad, don't blame the Indian or Pakistani who comes here with nothing and works 28 hours a day and makes sure that education is the most important thing in their lives, they earn what they get and how they got there.

First and foremost,,,,all countrys have laws and rules which everyone is expected to obey. And for the ones that don't wish to, that is why that every country has prisons and jails. Every country has its' own unique problems and it is up to the govt. of that country to address those problems and try to solve them. Corrupt governments, usually are very bad at solving problems relating to the majority if it does not affect them personally. This is very evident in Mexico. Most of the countrys' population is very very poor, and those in govt. position have money and position, and many more are open to corruption, which has been and still is being proven everyday. And that govt. has not tried to solve its' immigration problems, they blame the US for its own problems..
When laws are broken and not enforced, it can do nothing but lead to further problems in many different areas. If people see that certain laws will not be enforced, it gives certain types excuses not to obey any law they dont agree with.. The situation we have with Mexico now is a very dangerous one, and if not corrected soon, will lead to disaster for many.

My step father just got back from deep in Mexico, where they go and set up wells for the locals to have fresh water. This is just one small thing that this group does on a regular basis. There are so many missionary type organizations that go to Mexico to help them live better, why don't they try to spread the word about these groups and try to help these groups help them?

I agree with you. We have to take care of OUR homeless, OUR orphans, OUR veterans, etc!
Americans are the first to lend a hand, yet we are always the first to get criticized by all other countries. What country helped France out of WWII and yet here they are our worst critics!! How quickly they forget!
