I happen to believe that their is a higher power, does that really hurt anything? Have I offended you by saying this? It seems like Atheists are always complaining about christian beliefs being forced on them....but look around this forum....look at how many atheist-tearing-down-christian questions are there! You calling me stupid for believing what I want (and I am certainly entitled to do so) is not going to make you any smarter....so why do it?

My point is that basically I am sick of seeing questions on here intended to tear me down for having a way to get through the day.....Is it necessary to do so? I'm not out to force my beliefs on you, just let me believe what I want to beleive in peace!

Lets see...laws are being created with a religious smoke screen, even though it clearly is against the separation of church and state. Atheists live here too you know.
On Answers, we see bigots asking questions like these (and just these are from today):
Why is is atheist feel so put on?
Why do evolutionists mock religions, when their religion (evolution) has less evidence?
Evolutionists why have we stopped evolving?
A question to Atheists?
Hey you athiest.........?
If a Devil exists (SATAN). Then Why is so Hard to believe there is Righteous God who will Punish Him?
Why do atheist...?
To all the atheist..?
Do atheists believe in episodes from their own childhood?
If you ATHEISTS think that you are self-made then how come you guys are all growing old and dry up and die?
Why is it that Atheists spend so much time knocking christians?
Fee free to look at my answers to those Good Christian people.

Yes you are entitled to your beliefs. No, your personal beliefs aren't hurting anyone. No, you aren't forcing these beliefs on anyone....
Now, the fundamentalist Christian movement in America is something to be feared. They effectively have a stranglehold on the U.S. government currently, the only branch that still has any sense apparently is the Judiciary... and pun intended THANK GOD! The exemplary behavior of our Fundi President is means enough to scare the b'Jesus out of anyone with any semblance of mind. Just because your worldview doesn't affect anyone directly doesn't mean you aren't hanging onto the coat tails of an out of control monster.
The worst part is that Christianity can justify just about anything, harmful or not, with a rationality that runs contrary to both common sense and all available evidence of reality.

First, it's only words.
Second, it isn't just Christians and atheists. There are people from every belief system trying to force their beliefs on others. Some of the Christians have been taking a lot of flack because of a tendency to condemn other people to hell and a lot of people really don't like that.
Third, knocking someone else's belief system is one of the oldest games in the world.
Knock, knock! Is there anyone there?
I have personally been trying not to attack anyone for any religious beliefs, but I can't tolerate having people condemn me to eternal punishment because I just don't feel that any person has a right to do that.
Otherwise, you have every right to make any statement you can defend. It's the law of the jungle in here. For further comfort, consult my first statement.

I've seen quite a few from both sides of the fence.
Also, don't confuse questioning religion with knocking down Christians...there's a difference. I can post a "Christians are stupid" question or pose a "Why do Christians believe in something that I don't think is so" question...one is disrespecting the religion, the other is challenging it.

You are entitled to all the superstitious, mythical beliefs you wish to have. However, xtians are everywhere, trying to control everything...most importantly our government and judicial system. When xtians learn to live and let live, when they stop trying to remove free will, when they stop making up false science and persecuting those who actually do reasearch, when they quit evangelizing the world, when they learn some manners...I will be more than happy to ignore the lot of you.

----- I care what other people believe because belief motivates behavior. False beliefs tend to motivate bad behavior. False religious beliefs are capable of motivating some of the worst behavior of all.
----- I focus on exposing the false beliefs of Christians because I live in a predominantly Christian culture. The three branches of the federal government are dominated by Christians. State and local government appears to be dominated by Christians, too. There have always been lots of big Christian churches wherever I've lived, along with Christian radio and TV stations, Christian bookstores, door-to-door Christian proselytizers - on and on. From my perspective, asking why I focus on Christianity is kinda like asking why a drowning person seems so preoccupied with water.
Here are two big reasons:
1. It teaches that people are basically evil, that they need supernatural help to be saved, that life can have no meaning if Christianity is wrong, and that the vast majority of people who ever lived are destined for eternal hellfire. These are awful things to teach - utterly unproven things which can inspire self-hatred, hatred of non-Christians, lots of guilt, much unnecessary fear, and an unfortunate dependency on religious leaders.
2. It teaches that prayer, fasting, taking communion, and other such acts are good and proper responses to our problems and the problems of this world when what's really needed is for us to get off our butts, educate ourselves about the real nature and causes of those problems, and then do things which might actually help solve them.
P.S. I don't recall EVER calling you "stupid"... and as for beliefs being "forced", when was the last time you answered the door and received "literature" from a couple of atheists "spreading the good news of nonbelief"? When was the last time any children were required to pledge alliegance to "nonbelief"? When was the last time a Christian wasn't allowed to hold public office (atheists aren't allowed to hold public office in several states... people are FORCED to profess belief in a "higher power" in order to "qualify")?
Yes, "everyone" is trying to get into the government, but not everyone is trying to control the government with their prefered brand of spirituality. There are some Christians that literally want the law to reflect the exact positions of their religion... and THAT is unconstitutional.

I believe that Atheists are scared that there could be something better than not believing in anything at all. It's easier to say there is no God than to actually believe in something that you cannot see. I also believe that people get discouraged when bad things happen to good people and they say why would God let that happen but they don't realize that we humans wanted free will and God Gave it to us and so the choices that we make come with consequences. Don't get discouraged just know in your heart that there is a higher power and believe with all your might.

I don't think I have ever called you stupid... quit making blanket statements... I could easily make the same post asking why Christians spend so much time knocking me... when really it's only one or two here and there.

I don't. But I will certainly defend my position every single time a christian tries to push their moronic ridiculous religious agenda in my face. Leave me alone and you'll be left alone!

I'm not an atheist, but I've seen a lot of "questions" posed by Christians (eg., "How can you look at your baby and not see it as a gift from God?") attacking atheists and "evolutionists".
