1. "Secular schools can never be tolerated because such schools have no religious instruction, and a general moral instruction without a religious foundation is built on air; consequently, all character training and religion must be derived from faith . . . we need believing people. "

These words were spoken by non other than: ADOLPH HITLER

Where were the "prayer in school" people and all the bible verses? It's funny how the religious nuts distance themselves from a person who shared their EXACT SAME BELIEFS.

Didn't Hitler say that? This is just one of the proofs that he was a model Christian. Man, you are evil. I love it. ;-)

It is the credo of a sectarian bigot, I don't care of which faith.

The very idea that morality and a decent character can only be derived from faith in punishment or reward after death is utterly repugnant, and should have no place in 21.st century society.

Of course they need believing people, they are so much easier to influence, once they have learnt to believe in authority and stopped to think for themselves you can tell them anything and even get them to commit atrocities in the name of their god much more easily.

Now I re-read your question, it sounds familiar, I just didn't recognize it in the translation. Everything I said still stands, though.

I disagree strongly. Morality is not synonymous with religion. Morality can, and should, be based upon reason and human compassion, not faith in superstition. The kind of morality that is truly "built on air" is religious dogma, which teaches that ignorance is a virtue and perpetuates divisiveness, which we certainly don't need.

you have a Constitutional suitable to prepare your very own faith and to choose at college, however the college (no count if that could be a public college) won't be able to lead prayers, prepare non secular indoctrination, or sponsor non secular activities, with the aid of fact the form additionally says the government won't be able to "set up" any faith-- in different words, the government won't want any faith over the others, nor might it require human beings to stay with any faith. Edit: "final time i checked the very superb court docket ruled that atheism is a faith, and the absence of god is obviously taught interior the college equipment..." i don't be attentive to of any very superb court docket ruling asserting atheism is a faith. are you able to cite the case? i'm no longer attentive to any public college that teaches "the absence of God." This become in no way component to the curriculum interior the ordinary public faculties I attended, nor interior the state college I attended. you may have an extremely unusual public college.

Yikes..... someone hates the concept of "separation of church and state".

I don't agree AT ALL with that quote.

Why not?

Because forcing people to accept some particular idea or adhere to behavioral standards from someone else’s religion means that their religious freedom is being infringed upon.

As an obvious example, could we really say that Jews and Muslims would have freedom of religion if they were required to show same respect to images of Jesus that Christians have? Would Christians and Muslims really have freedom of their religion if they were required to wear yarmulkes? Would Christians and Jews have freedom of religion if they were required to adhere to Muslim dietary restrictions?

I disagree because you DO NOT truly have the freedom to practice your religious beliefs (or absense of belief) if you are also required to adhere to any of the religious beliefs or rules of other religions. I disagree because I support the Constitution of the United States. I disagree because I believe in TRUE religious freedom, and that includes freedom FROM religion just as much as it includes freedom OF religion.

I have 3 children all in public school, and I would never subject them to any sort of religious propaganda. They can decide if they want to become a member of a church when they are 18.

Complete nonsense.

Morality comes from the social contract -- what we as individuals agree to do to get along with each other and live peacefully as a group -- not because some Invisible Sky Daddy™ told us to.....

There's more to it than that. Religious instruction in secular schools allows the students to take America's founding documents seriously as a part of who we are as a nation rather than something to fight against in favor of freedom's antithesis.
