tricky question. age is relative. but i will ry to address this scientifically. it would help if we can determine, when "'old age" begins. to a teen, old age is in the 40's. to someone in their 40's, old age is like in your 70's or 80's. We all have moratlity issues, ie, we dont want to die, so what we consider "old age" is all different according to how old we ourselves are at the moment we ponder it.
if we look at old age as when we cease to be gainfully employed, active in the work field, and retire, then we can consider old age as when social security begins, say, 62. but some companies allow retirement, as soon as 55, if you have enough years of service.
I will say, that 62 years old, is the official "old age" beginning point, when you can collect Social Security.
Therefore, the youngest you can be, and die of old age, is 62 years old, or damn close to it!

how's that?

There are many diseases that cause the body to age at an extremely rapid rate, so a 12 year old can appear to be 90, and simply die for the same reasons older healthy people die.

You can die of old age at 13.
Children with HGPS appear to age at a rate that is 5 to 10 times the normal rate. They die at an average age of 13 from complications of cardiovascular disease or arteriosclerosis -- hardening of the arteries. No cure for the disease is known.

I think they only call it dying of old age when they can't figure out what other kind of disease you died of.

Young people generally die from some disease or other. People don't just up and die for no reason. But if you get really old and don't get any other diseases then I guess it's just old age.

A lot of that could be widows or widowers who have been married for ages, dying just a few days after their spouses have died. Call it a broken heart, call it old age, or whatever.

If someone dies of old age it means that although they didn't have an actual illness ie cancer etc.. their body just stopped going because it was worn out. A post moten would pinpoint an actual cause of death but if they got to a ripe old age - why bother.
