My ethnic background is Filipino. Is the hair color from a European ancestor? Can hair color change from light to dark? And why?

I went out with a Filipino gal who had blond hair but it turned black after she took a shower.

Both my parents were light, light blondes until their late teens, and now both have dark brown hair. I had bright red hair (like my grandmother) until I was three, then it turned light brown and has been ever since. Peolple's colouration --hair, eyes, skin-- generally seems to deepen as they grow up.

I was a platinum blonde when I was 3. It got darker as I grew up and has been medium brown since I was 8.

Well, I take that back....it's turning gray, now.

My best friend had platinum blonde hair when I first knew her, and each year it get's more brown. However, my hair has gotten slightly lighter, and my skin has paled too. When I was born I had the most gorgeous olive skin, and now I'm pasty... I can't even tan anymore! :-(

Yes, most peoples hair changes as we get older. Most children start getting their adult hair around 9.

If you want to see if it is in your genes get a genaeology genetic blood test done. It costs about £130 though! It tells you your genetic make up but I don't know how far back in your genetic line it will go. Good luck!
