Not all Christians support the war in Iraq! Not even all US Christians!!
Many of the first immigrants went to North America because they had split from the main denominations and were no longer welcome to practice "their" religion in their home country. Others followed later but mainly from Europe which was predominantly Christian.
As some of the others here pointed out here the Founding Fathers of the USA were Christians, and those are the reasons for today’s prevalent views and prejudices, which also influence policies and politics in the U.S..
Unfortunately, from the beginning most of these “Christians” adopted the justification for self-defense, which is NOT taught by Christ. It “justified” the suppression of the Indians defending THEIR property and produced those “Western heroes” (gunslingers) we see glorified in the western movies. It also justified the enormous weapons industry and now the weaponization of space.
Recently this justification for self-defense was expanded to “eliminate” possible terror suspects (like Saddam, Taliban etc.) “with pre-emptive” force.
Well, this does NOT jive with Christ’s teachings and those Christians who are supporting these policies should confess, regret and ask for forgiveness.
Jesus says to LOVE our enenies, not eliminate them and massive "collateral in the process.
Love is the answer - whatever the question!

How come non Christians support the war in Iraq? It's not really fair to assume that ALL Christians support the war in Iraq. Jesus did say turn the other cheek, but the book of Judges is full of war stories. Regardless, I may not agree with the war but I do support my tons of friends and family members who are over there fighting right now.

I am a christian and I don't support wars. However, I do support our troops. A good way to find out about wars and the bible is in the old testament. Try reading it. All of the wars are
happening just as the prophets prophesied.
The way the wars are happening is for the glory of God, so that he can accomplish his mission to
send his son Jesus through the clouds, which I
am sure will be an awesome sight for those
christians who really and truly believe. Get ready!!!

He is.
But we will defend ourselves and protect others.
Many Christians do NOT support the war in Iraq, I do not, but also don't think we should leave now and give the country over to the radicals.
That would cause even more bloodshed.
We will have to ask the people of Iraq in 10 or 15 years to decide if it was the right or wrong thing to do.
Peace!

Not all do. The Christian community is split between the moderate, mainstream churches who are anti-war, and the evangelical reformed churches which hold to a Just War position. The position of the moderate churches is that violence is not acceptable in any but the most extreme situations (direct and continous attack, etc) and even then are very timid about it. Refromed churches, however, see Just War as an extension of Christian love in that it aims to save lives in the long run. Which position is correct you'll have to study and answer that question for yourself.

I support our freedom to live, to speak, and to worship without terrorist bombing innocent civilians. Jesus exhibited righteous anger in the temple when the money changers were defaming the house of God.
Throwing tables, money, and merchandise all over the place is not a pacifist action. He offended many people for righteousness sake.
The war of terror is not about Iraq alone, but involves a VERY large battlefront that is inclusive of the entire planet.
Iran, North Korea, Chavez, Castro and other socialist and communist regimes HATE democracy and freedom, most especially Christianity.
I do not want to fight this war in another 10 years again! Let just finish it once and for all and give the people of these nations the freedom to elect whomever they want. Women deserve better treatment.

fighting in this war. a war they don't believe in. but they have a duty to this Great Country of ours and they don't run away from it.
Not all Christians support the war. but they do support the troops. why is it always Christains fault for everything? why do non believers support the war in iraq? fair question don't you think.

Not all Christians support the war. I am a Christian and I do not support it in any way. The Christians who do support it, I feel, are putting politics ahead of Christianity. As Christians, we are supposed to "follow Christ" and I cannot imaging Jesus Christ ever advocating war.

Christians are supportive of their country as it says to do in the bible. The bible also states that countries who are friends of Israel are blessed by God while countries that wage war with Israel are cursed by God.
Jesus' teachings are based for the individual in everyday life, not for countries as a whole. The war is not meant to cause death or harm, but to help free the rest of the country who has been under a dictatorship for 30+ years....a dicatator who can have you killed at any time for any reason including possessing a Bible, voting against him or if you are merely excused of a crime without any proof. By removing him, ideally you are trying to help millions more including our own civilians as well.
The war is not going exceptionally well, but there is progress that the public is not aware of due to the partisanship of the liberal press in this country. But Christians are typically very loyal to God, family and country and will usually show support.
