"Mais où sont les neiges d'antan ?"

Translation:
Where are the beauties ?

It is a beautiful metaphor which requires where is the most beautiful person.

François Villon, french poet, wrote this beautiful sentence in the years 1450....
This question is extracted from a poetry : "La ballade des femmes du temps jadis"

It's beautiful metaphor and Villon : it is very very brilliant ! You find him easily on the Web.

Obviously, It's just an idea...

EDIT / Les singes anaux meurent lentement - Heaven is here on earth.

Caution !! Hrvatski is a joker because the translation isn't "Heaven is here on earth, but true insults... : "the anal monkeys die slowly "
Reverso is a very good tool ! Lol !

Compose surrealist poetry in French. And insult the British. You could try translating this into French: "Ah, the English pomp! Certainly your trout are more painful to vaccuum than the flying coachmen of Czar Nicholai! Your Queen's hair sends forth a sheen remniscent of a wounded man streaming bandage gauze from the highest church steeple. You never knew, sad things, that the possums never took toothpicks for granted. May your lips ever curdle the the presence of the next, "Jolly well spoken!" Jolly well that your fingers staple pine nuts into everything you touch, that is.

buy a french dictionary! It will help you find a word that you yourself will like and not some other persons idea! There are many different french words that sound pretty and look nice but what you want is something that will mean something to you now and 10 years from now, yes tatoo's are permanent (unless you get some freaky skin removal surgery and have the chance of getting cancer)...DO NOT TAKE THIS LIGHTLY!!!! TATOO'S WILL STAY WITH YOU FOREVER!!!

A friend of mine has a fleur de lis, a French flower/symbol. Google an image. I like her tattoo a lot. You could put the name under it if you wanted.

you dont know what you want it to look like or say, but you want it in french?

...

really? maybe you should think this through a little bit. anyway, it's difficult to say without knowing anything about you, or at least about where this tattoo is supposed to go.

a few ideas:

espoir - hope
avenir - future
rêve - dream

if you have more specific ideas, i'd be glad to translate.

How about you help us get a broad idea of what you want to say? Then we'll gladly translate it for you, and we might even be able to find a good quotation (if you want a quotation).

Because you're really not helping here!

Verite = truth. Just make sure you put an accent on the last "e".

I think you should get the names of some of your body parts tattooed on those body parts, like labels.

Le bras--arm
La jambe--leg
Le dos--back
L'épaule--shoulder
