I heard of 4 individuals coming illegally in the last month...three different trips and coyotes. 3 out of the 4 were successful.

Your that blonde chicka that's annoying...

but anyway - why do we really need the minutemen? Isn't the government supposed to be protecting our borders instead of out protecting the borders of Iraq??? They are doing the job that our government is supposed to be doing.

You raised a good point. When will they understand that it's not as simple as building a wall to keep people out? We have illegal immigration now because of imperialism and colonialism. Western countries plundered the resources of these countries and colonized them in order to gain wealth. So now, can we really blame them if they want to come here and seek a better life? I personally am in favor of immigration and diversity. I think it makes America stronger. But for those who would like to control population, etc., the solution is to make our leaders know that it's time to overhaul international trade regulations. Give these countries a chance to improve their economies.

not good enough. i still think no matter how hard they try, there will always a way for the illegals to get into the U.S. it will be a never ending process just as long as we live.

Who knows? What you have heard about is only the tip of the iceberg. Millions come across every year. The only way to truly stop them is to not give them jobs.

Well, it is making a difference.
For instance- a good portion of the California pear crop this year was lost since there weren't sufficient farm laborers to pick them.

Darn. I like pears. And mexicans.

i dont know how much of a difference they are really making. but you have to start somewhere, and they have brought quite a bit of media attention to the situation as well as the government-so maybe they have helped more that we think

Minutemen's Operation Sovereignty Planned to Secure Border, Reduce Violence and Murder

MINUTEMEN'S OPERATION SOVEREIGNTY PLANNED TO SECURE BORDER,
REDUCE VIOLENCE AND MURDER

Laredo, TX - From all over the nation, volunteers are loading up cell phones, two-way radios, binoculars, and surveillance gear. Efficiently organized, state-level volunteers are gassing up their cars and heading for Laredo, to join Minuteman Project founder Jim Gilchrist's "Operation Sovereignty" - the campaign to "do the job Congress won't do."

Gilchrist just finished his reconnaissance of Laredo. "This is our most dangerous border town," he asserts, "and that's why we selected it to launch Operation Sovereignty on 9/11 - the fifth anniversary of the attack on America." With operations continuing through November, Gilchrist hopes that voters will see the need to elect only those politicians who will enforce border security.

"The president could solve this problem tomorrow, with an executive order, and the Minutemen could go home. But until he does, we'll be here, the eyes and ears of the Border Patrol. We cannot afford another 9/11."

Few can dispute Gilchrist's assessment of Laredo. The border area here has seen more than its share of robberies, rapes, and murders - many of which have been drug cartel assassinations of politicians, drug enforcement agents, and journalists.

Though criticized by politicians and bureaucrats, and though they receive a steady stream of hate mail (see We Get Hate Mail ), today's Minutemen are committed to defending our nation against the steady stream of illegal aliens, estimated to be over 10,000 per day!

Border patrol and drug enforcement agents with "boots on the ground" appreciate the Minutemen's efforts. Wherever Minuteman Project volunteers have set up border reporting projects, they have virtually stopped illegal border crossings - and to date, have done so without violence.

Reynaldo Garza, acting chief of the Border Patrol's Laredo Sector, has disclosed that he will be discussing Operation Sovereignty reporting and safety procedures with Gilchrist and his volunteers.

"We will definitely have those discussions with them," Garza said, acknowledging that "Information that we receive from the public about any kind of smuggling activity is helpful to law enforcement."

The Minuteman Project is a multi-ethnic, immigration law enforcement advocacy group. Minuteman Project volunteers must conduct themselves respectably, within the rule of law, or face immediate dismissal - no exceptions, no second chances. Minuteman leaders stress passive activity: OBSERVING with the aid of binoculars, telescopes, night vision scopes, etc., and informing the U.S. Border Patrol of illegal activity so border agents can investigate.
