type in Leviticus 25:45

It specifies in the King James Version I am permitted slaves.

Its my God given right. Why do you substitute your own morality over Gods?

Why - are you thinking for yourselves? Is this permitted in Christianity?

It's not, your a slave to your job and the bill collectors.

Slavery in the bible was a way of paying off debt, just like it is today.

I am a slave and always will be for this stupid country I live in, even to the point of giving my life for it.

The US Constitution also premitted slavery by failure to act.

Women and children were chattle.

Children still are.

The state is very hesitant to step in to a family/child dispute.

The Bible is not necessarily God's moral code, but the codes written by learned men that were thought to reflect God.

We are permitted to think for ourselves. Jesus led the way, when they wanted to follow the OLD rules and stone a woman to death for fornication, Jesus came between them and halted the process with Biblical Logic.

You can forcebly put a child in private school, bording school, military school, therapy, day camp, summer cap, a friend of mine had a child taht was so totally out of control he took him to Texas and put him in an institution, because in Texas and Child can't petition for release until they are 18.

It seems that laws elsewhere are so liberal that if your child, who steals to buy drugs, gets caught with a loaded gun while intoxicated, breaks into stores to steal to buy drugs, can also petition to get out of a institution that is privately run and proving medically supervised therapy.

Texas don't provide Child Rights.

Some Religions are liberalizing. Faster than nations are. Faster than people are.

The average US citizen, for example, makes the same kind of remarks about Homosexuals as Archie Bunker makes about Polish People or Blacks, yet some relgions are letting them get married, some are making them Priest and Bishops.

Religion didn't really get that bold with Blacks back in 1800. Even in the North there were segregated churches right into the 1950s.

Funny how whole flocks of religious people can accept, yet the people of nations make slurs and jokes.

I keep wanting to do a story about an atheist family. A confirmed one. In which their 13 or 14 year old wants to practise relgion, wear crosses, put up pictures of Jesus in their room, read the Bible and go the Church on Sunday.

Do Atheists have the RIGHT to stop all that! Do Atheist parents have a right to forbid religion or the pratise of it inside thier house their home!

It also says eating pork is wrong, yet many Christians have ham on Christmas. The answer is quite simple really, we pick and choose what we want to believe. I would have much more respect for Conservative Christians if they actually attempted to pass a law requiring executions for such things as performing abortions, practicing witchcraft, being a homosexual, etc. (not that I would support it, just that I would have more respect for them as a group- the Bible does REQUIRE it). But I really get the impressions that Christians believe what they want, then go to the Bible to try and support it instead of actually using the Bible to base their beliefs on.

Those verses are saying that, in those days, people should take care of their own servants. Those laws were made to protect the slaves. Some people didn't have a family, so they were adopted by wealthier families.

Why the sensationalism?

Go buy them and throw your Bible in the air saying it is your God given right!

If it means that much to you, then the white coats come......

Exactly my argument. That's just one of the reasons I rejected Christianity.

Some of you people on here are down right weird. You cannot "Own children". They are your responsibility, but you do not own them.

Excellent question.

Keep asking them.

If you can get just one brainwashed individual to begin thinking for himself, you will have done a great thing.
