Irresponsible dog owners that's who, its always the poor dogs fault and never the owners, what a shame, the dogs can't answer for themselves and have been taught by human hand yet they are been condemn to death for trusting a human, so sad.

I don't think it is a matter of two dogs being left in a pub. I know a few pubs where there are dogs running around. The scenario should have never been allowed to happen. dogs and small children do not mix unsupervised. If they were busy moving furniture or other things, their priority should have been to keep the child safe whilst doing this. I personally would have shut the dogs into a room/car for the duration of the moving, or alternatively made sure someone was looking after the child whilst I was busy. Neither here nor there now. hindsight is a wonderful thing. Hopefully with all the publicity the case has received people learn from it and be even more vigilant now.
My thoughts are with the parents. What must they feel like..........

If you are referring to the incident in the New Parks Pub in Leicester, then don't. It is a true tragedy. Poor baby. Poor parents. But also poor dogs - now "destroyed" for doing what they were trained to do ... That is why it really really really is a tragedy.
The dogs weren't left in the pub, but the family was moving furniture at the time and someone left the door open so the 2 guard dogs got in ...
The blame can lie with all or none. No point even thinking about that.
The tragedy is so sad though, I can't stop crying.

I'm a dog lover, was brought up with dogs but it always makes me laugh when people say "don't worry he won't bite"! of course they bite, that's why they have teeth!! Unfortunately some dogs are more prone to biting than others. I would urge anyone who is about to have a baby or already has a young baby to think about the safety of the child above anything else, especially if they already have a dog. As far as the dog is concerned, it knows it's place in the pack and when a new pack member comes along, they see it as a threat and will do what comes naturally - get rid of it! The parents of the baby will never forgive themselves but in time they will come to terms with it. They may even have another baby but lets hope they don't get a dog until the child is older. For anyone who thinks I'm heartless, my face was savaged by my dog age 13, 7 operations and many years later its part of my character! I've also lost a child, not through an animal attack but because I didn't think he was that sick and take him to hospital - we all make mistakes, just some of them are more tragic than others. My feelings go out to the parents and family of the baby.

It is sad, but they are probably better off being left there than out on a lonely country road where they would have starved, shot, or been hit by a car. Not sure the seond part of your question, do you mean the dogs should have been put to sleep? I guess they are sick??

Thanks to chetco for sending me the story about the baby that died after bring left in the pub alone with 2 rotties. Such a sad, tragic story. No one should leave a tiny baby alone with a big dog. It shouldn't have happened.

These people were moving furniture and as such knew they would have to leave doors open. They also knew that there was a defenceless baby in the house, and two very powerful dogs that had been taught to be aggressive.

This is at best grossly negligent.

Unless the dogs were chained up or otherwise kept separated from the baby for the duration of the furniture move, how the hell else was that going to end?

It's obvious that you don't leave dangerous dogs in the company of a baby. I can't understand the lack of condemnation for those involved.

Nobody is responsible? BULL$HlT.

I feel so much sympathy for the baby that would have had her whole life ahead of her.

As for the dogs, did they deserve to die? No they were doing what they had been taught to do. BUT they had to die because they had been taught to be a danger to the public. Public Safety must be priority.

Link please?

Edit: Never mind, I found it myself.

This type of thing is precisely why I think guard dogs (not to be confused with watchdogs, attack dogs, or protection dogs) are a very bad idea, unless they are guarding a maximum security prison or something. I've heard them referred to as "a loaded weapon that can pull its own trigger." Such a tragedy when irresponsible people train dogs to be so dangerous and then failed to keep them contained.

My thoughts go out to the family of the baby.

Sorry to say it but that is pretty common,,, if people would quit breaking into their buisness, they would have no reason to protect what is theirs.
So now who do you want to blame, the pub owner, or the crooks that brake into buisnesses??????

IMHO,,, where were the kids parents??????
