o yeah, and i am htinking about walking too, how much would i have to do? i know i have to get my heart rate up to boost my metabolism, and all that good stuff, but do you think an hour of walking, and 30 min of jogging in place a day will show good results? along with a good diet of course.

First of all, you must realize that diet is perhaps even more important. Eat SMALLER, more FREQUENT meals. Try to pack on good protein, and no junk food. Fruits and Veggies, although you may not like them, are excellent choices. Excercise at least 3 days a week. No more than 5 days a week is necessary though.

I think the recommendation now is 45 minutes of brisk walking a day at least 5 days a week but preferably 7. A week is not long enough to show anything and you will probably notice toning up before you notice weight loss. You are building muscle and it weighs more than fat. You also need to do other exercises like pushup, crunches, get some weights to do biceps, triceps and shoulders. Then go online and figure out how many calories you need a day and then how many you need to lose weight. There are several sites that can help with that. Hope this info helps. I've just started walking again for about 5 weeks and have not lost a pound but my clothes fit better. Be very careful and eat healthy and don't eat late at night.

Hey Nick,

I have lost alot of weight and maintained with walking and eating properly. What I found a helpful tool is a pedometer. You can pick one up at a sporting goods store for under $20. And it counts how many steps you take a day. You should try to walk 10,000 steps every day. It sounds like a lot, but you will see results quickly. Walking 1 mile = 2000 steps.. This has worked for me, I lost 70 lbs this way, and I have kept it off for five years now. I hope this helps.

Good Luck!
CJ

You would have to walk for a least an hour a day at a pace of about 15 minutes/mile plus modify your diet. Cut down on chips, sodas, juice and french fries, don't supersize your orders when you go out and try to fill up on fresh fruit and vegetables. Become aware of total fat content and calorie content of the foods you eat every day. Keep a notebook with you and write down everything you eat, then look up how many calories you have consumed each day. You will be quite surprised.

You need to do it longer .. you may not see any results for the first two weeks .. your metabolism is slowly kicking into gear. I believe that one pound = 3200 calories.. So you need to burn 3200 calories for each pound you want to lose. Try keeping track of everything you eat each day ... and just cut out one or two items at first .. you will need to walk at a brisk rate for 45 minutes 5 days a week before you may see a difference on the scale. Good Luck ! Once the first pounds begin to come off , you will feel even more like excersising. Don't give up yet !! Good Luck :)

My friend.....
in order to have rapid weight loss at your weight and age would depend on 2 factors:

1) How much you eat
2) How much you excercise.

If you eat alot and run less....you wont be getting anywhere.
At your age and weight i recommend excercising on Stairmaster (in gym) for 30 minutes and jogging for 45 min ; if not jogging then walking for 1 hr and 30 min...

Another thing is CUT down on eating.....really eat fruits, no oil or chips or any other fat....
USE THIS---->ONLY IF YOU WANT TO LOOSE WAIT RAPIDLY

please note that after you loose weight but keep the same bad eating habits, then your gonna get fat again...

THE BEST SUGGESTION : eat less, eat clean, and excercise regularly.

You will see RESULTS minimum in 3 weeks because you have to let your body adapt to change and let it burn fat...its not magic ....its a process...and change happens gradually not suddenly..

Hope this helps

To loose 12 pounds in 2 weeks is purely loopy. yet once you're able to, the superb way is to jogg and for about 4 hours daily. And while you're in actual fact committed then bike for an hour additionally.

Yes, the doctors say walking is the best exercise you can do.
But you have to keep it up to do any good. It might not show after one week, but the longer you stick with it, it will start melting off. Start with 1 mile a day and keep increasing it as much as you feel you can do. That is what I'm doing right now. Good luck!

First of all, stop weighing yourself everyday or everyweek because healthy weight loss takes time. Eat healthy foods and cut out all (and i mean all) sugars and fatty foods...instead of the bag of chips munch on carrot sticks. Exercising for 30 minutes 3-4 times a week is really all you need, but if you have it in you to do more, by all means do more!
Just remember to set realistic goals for yourself, otherwise you set yourself up for failure and your back to square 1.
Good luck to you :)

1lb = 3500 calories.
2lbs/week = 7,000 calories

That's 1,000 calories a day, which is about 2 hours of aerobic exercise. Brisk walking might not be enough.

But- if you eat a bit less, an hour a day of exercise is more reasonable.

Join the swim team. If you're strong and 5'11"- weight isnt' that important, and you'll get a fantastic workout.
