sorry, meant to clarify, its a bit of a scaly thing, growing outward not wide, but long-ish, flesh-colored, am taking to vet asap although just was wondering if i could get info earlier than the vet appointment. My employer (i work at a pet store) hasn't seen it but seems to think it's scaly face mites? Any possibilities would be helpful. Thanks.

It could be a tumor. I assume this is your pet bird, not a wild bird. Better have the vet check it.(Or if it is a baby bird, it might be its beak?)
